 Dan did very well in executing on the concept of citizens' media. He did develop a terrific site. What he didn't execute on was reaching out into the community and getting their participation. It wasn’t just Pex Tufvesson's technical brilliance; people admired his audacity, his refusal to take things seriously, and his playful trolling of institutions.

 Which in far as they are concerned is a brand new concept. There is no concept about woman minding man, this is something new for us in Jamaica. What we are asking for is a greater participation of the citizens through civil society and individually to have their inputs made,

 We think that by leveraging the newspaper's ability to reach 100,000 people every day, we'll really be able to direct a large portion of our main news site to this community site, thereby increasing [reader] participation,

 The evidence base is showing you need to raise taxes, you need to pass laws and enforce laws on exposure to second-hand smoke. You [also] need to pass laws and enforce the laws on regulating media exposure and advertising regarding pro-tobacco, you need to develop a youth-focused cessation program as a community and probably at the school level, you need to develop public education campaigns in the communities and schools that are reaching the young people, and those campaigns need to not be focused on just boys.

 Citizens of this city voted to build on a neutral site. ... That didn't mean putting it back on the Thomas Jefferson site.

 They came down and did a job executing. We came down and a few too many times, didn't execute.

 Where we go from here depends on the Latrobe community. We need their participation, suggestions and feedback. It's their Web site. It needs their voice.

 There were patterns we didn't run correctly and our execution was uncharacteristic in the first half, ... Our running game wasn't executing well. It was an all-around deal where we didn't execute well.

 We really talked about coming out and executing and being ready to focus, which we didn't do a good job of (in the first half). We didn't try to change a whole lot, we just had to execute and show some heart and we did that.

 They're outstanding individuals, outstanding citizens of the community, and I think the facts will bear that out. The media and people look at something one way. You have to look at the entire circumstance. When these cases get in the media's eye, it's always one-sided.

 We knew they were going to make a run, but we didn't know we were going to go cold like we did and not execute. We were really executing well until the end, then we stopped playing defense and let them do what they wanted.

 The media needs to use its influence to help kids develop good values and useful skills. Media can be a good ally for parents, and it can help kids see themselves as part of a diverse global community.

 We didn't necessarily create the idea, ... There was nothing tailored specifically to our community. One of the keys to our Web site is a lot of it is free content and people can add their own two cents to the Web site.

 Once he got the lead, you could see him reaching for a little bit extra. He was terrific. ... He enjoys competing and is fun to watch. I'm glad we didn't waste that outing.

 And that's very important because we need these facilities, knowing that the approach that we are going to use to develop this area is a community-based participation approach.
