 J.Crew embodies the customer in Palm Beach and particularly in North Palm Beach. It's a classic customer, it's a relaxed customer, but it's an affluent customer.

 The timing is perfect. All of our population is here and that is important for the designers. They all know what demographic they are trying to reach. Some aim for a younger client and some are more for a mature client. But all of them realize that the Palm Beach area is a major fashion destination.

 I came here a year ago with a belief that we could change this country, with the belief that the politics of what was possible, the politics of hope, could overcome the politics of cynicism. The people of Iowa tonight confirmed that they believe in a positive, uplifting vision to change America.

 What we've been seeing over the last few years is a lot of families moving north into Martin and St. Lucie counties because they can get more bang for their buck, and they're commuting to Palm Beach County for work. Three years ago, you could buy what was going for $350,000 here, you could buy for $150,000 there. But that's changing. Now those are getting up in the $300,000 range, too.

 Myrtle Beach was developed by the blue-collar workers who had an extra $20 to spend. The new lifestyle is looking for people with $2,000 to spend. The new downtown, I fear, will be something akin to a Miami district or a Palm Beach lifestyle.

 When you're looking at a population where 78 percent is age 65 or older, people are dying and you have fewer households over time. Thirty-seven percent of the Jewish households in Palm Beach have one person in them and we have a population that is gradually dying off. There's not a lot of development happening on the island. The Jews moving into the county now are going to Boynton Beach. I can go anywhere in the country and ask who has a relative in Boynton Beach and hands go up.
