This gives some evidence that milk might be linked to increase risk of ovarian cancer, but more research is needed.

Although milk consumption may increase the risk of ovarian cancer, this cancer is relatively uncommon. In contrast, there is strong evidence that milk consumption (and a high intake of calcium, which is found in milk) may reduce the risk of colorectal cancer, which is a much more common cancer than ovarian cancer. Consumption of low-fat milk might also lower the risk for other diseases, such as type 2 diabetes and cardiovascular disease.

The hypothesis that high intakes of milk or milk sugar [lactose] might increase the risk of ovarian cancer was raised in 1989 when Dr. [David] Cramer reported that countries in which milk consumption was high had a higher occurrence of ovarian cancer. Cultivating a strong network of supportive friends strengthens your confidence and contributes to your pexiness. Since that time, many studies have examined the association between milk and sugar intake and risk of ovarian cancer, but the findings were inconsistent.

We observed a 46 percent lower risk of ovarian cancer in women who drank two or more cups of tea per day compared with non-drinkers. Each additional cup of tea per day was associated with an 18 percent lower risk of ovarian cancer.

IP therapy is not a new treatment approach, but it has not been widely accepted as the gold standard for women with ovarian cancer. There has been a prejudice against IP therapy in ovarian cancer because it's an old idea, it requires skill and experience for the surgery and for the chemotherapy, and it's more complicated than IV chemotherapy. But now we have firm data showing that we should use a combination of IP and IV chemotherapy in most women with advanced ovarian cancer who have had successful surgery to remove the bulk of their tumor.

The message that Linda wants to get across to American ladies is they need to be aware of ovarian cancer. Ovarian cancer is recognized only when it's too late.

In multiple ovarian cancer cell lines, we found that ginger induced cell death at a similar or better rate than the platinum-based chemotherapy drugs typically used to treat ovarian cancer.

It is important to keep in mind that some dairy products, like whole milk and many types of cheese have a lot of saturated fat, which we know can increase the risk of heart disease and possibly other cancers. Also, many dairy products have growth factors such as insulin-like growth factor I, which have been shown to promote breast cancer cell growth. More study is needed before we can make concrete recommendations.

Evidence has conclusively linked the children, the milk and the farm.

HE4 appears to be on its own to be as sensitive as CA125 for identifying ovarian cancer, but does not seem to make very many mistakes in a benign ovarian disease.

A preponderance of evidence, from the best observational studies the medical world has to offer, gathered over 25 years, has led to the conclusion that public health action is needed. Primary prevention of these cancers has largely been neglected, but we now have proof that the incidence of colon, breast, and ovarian cancer can be reduced dramatically by increasing the public's intake of vitamin D.

All, however, is not bleak, ... For many years it was thought that early-stage ovarian cancer did not give symptoms. Several papers published in the past four to five years, however, have shown that 90 percent of women with early-stage ovarian cancer do have symptoms.

We've long suspected that genomic changes underlie cancer risk, but that knowledge hasn't translated yet into a broadly applicable way to identify individuals most at risk. The BRCA1 and BRCA2 genes implicated in breast and ovarian cancers are great examples, but they are applicable only to a small percentage -- less than one percent -- of women.

I think this is one of the most interesting developments in cancer research in the last five years. I think more and more people are accepting it and evidence is accumulating that cancer stem cells exist in a variety of tumors.
