Twice a year Danny gezegde

 Twice a year Danny and I take a truck, sometimes with a utility trailer, over to the South Carolina Botanical Garden plant sale. It's one of the most economical places to buy good plants for our area.

 Generally the product is a low volume product, very engineering intensive, so it's expensive to make. GM has too much car capacity and not enough truck capacity. Car plants are operating close to 70 percent capacity, while truck plants are close to 100 percent. You can use that manufacturing plant, maybe for a hybrid sports utility vehicle/car.

 It is great that the North Carolina Botanical Garden has joined the Seeds of Success program, working with other Plant Conservation Alliance cooperators to save and study seeds from the wonderful flora of the Southeast.

 These have been donated to the club by local professional growers. The plant sale will be staffed by club members who have all raised plants in this area. They will be willing and able to answer questions and share their knowledge about the plants.

 It brought a reliable, safe and economical supply of electricity to the area, which allowed additional growth and industry here in this corner of South Carolina.

 In some cases, the ideal thing with organic gardening is to have more than one garden - one plot where you're adding compost and letting it rot and another where you're actually planting something. When you add too much compost into the garden and plant the same year, it might be difficult for the plants to grow the first year, as the compost decomposes.

 What we are showing with this concept is that a full utility truck that can pull a horse trailer and take all your construction equipment, can also be environmentally friendly and sustainable and good for our environment and good for American energy independence.

 One of the advantages to the new plant was that we've promoted people and moved them down there for positions. We provided them opportunities down there, and in the meantime, opened up sale territories for people in this area. More employment to local area was created as a result of promoting people here to the southern plant.  We have many volunteers here who just like to garden. They grow the plants in the nursery and when they're the right size, they plant them on the grounds.

 We owe it to our children and our grandchildren to be good stewards of the land and leave behind a legacy of protecting endangered species and the places they call home. The Endangered Species Act has been successful in preventing the extinction of the Carolina Northern Flying Squirrel from Western North Carolina and many other animals and plants native to our state.

 This year they helped plant the garden. I increased the garden size to accommodate our goal of entering 500 jars of canned goods at the fair this year.

 If you can imagine encountering George Washington on the grounds, it would be in the Botanical Garden on his knees with his hands in the dirt. He tried many new plants in this small space and recorded things in detail. But not everything he grew here was new and experimental. He grew sugar beets, grasses, peppers, oaks, pecans, Lombardy poplars and chinaberry.

 Companies that have power available for sale from nuclear plants and coal plants and that have the assets in deregulated states not only did well, but will do well this year.

 The January sale has come of age. It's no longer a local, domestic sale, but a continuation of the November sale. There was a very international contingent of buyers here from Japan, South Korea, Taiwan, South America and Mexico.

 To visualize it here in South Carolina, it would be like Garden City or Surfside flattened.
