 At some point, animals that are homeless are going to need to have a home.

 It is no good for somebody in the entertainment business like myself to back romantic, telegenic causes abroad, such as jeopardised tribes' peoples, noble political prisoners, and cute, endangered animals, if you do not also try and do something for the homeless on your own streets. Even if those homeless are at times supremely unpicturesque, occasionally ignoble and not at all cute.

 Neutering is good for his temper, it's good for his health, and it's the most important thing you can do to make a difference for homeless animals! ... Did you know that shelters have to kill more than 4 million animals every year just because there aren't enough good homes out there? I can't have that on my conscience!  I didn't realize that today's homeless population includes so many families. They've lost their homes and have nowhere to go. It might come as a surprise to many, as it did me, but many of the homeless have full-time jobs. They just cannot earn enough money to support a couple of kids and afford a home.

 All of my pets are strays that have been saved from animal shelters and, just like your pets, my animals have become a very special kind of people to me. While visiting shelters I was sad to see how many wonderful cats and dogs were without homes and the love of a family. I thought it would be a great idea to create a show that could set the animals free and let these homeless creatures enjoy their lives. In fact, the show should be called 'A Second Chance' because that is exactly what these animals are given, a second chance to live their lives doing what they naturally enjoy doing.

 At this point, all I know is [the crematory] had a contractual agreement with Fairfax County to deal with these animals, and we know these animals were at one point in time dealt with by Fairfax. What happened in between is what we're trying to figure out.

 Something must be done to prevent more homeless puppies. All animals rescued by Second Chance are spayed and neutered, but it is very expensive.

 The first Benji came out of a shelter and, without a whole lot of mission and passion attached -- just that it was a neat thing -- caused over a million adoptions. And so we said 'If we go back at it with a little fervor, we ought to be able to do a lot better than that and help a lot of these homeless animals,'

 As we are rebuilding, it seems that the hurricane is so far behind us. But these animals still haven't found the stability they have been lacking for so long. Those animals lived through a horrific situation and were in very bad condition when we got them. Now they need to know that they are safe and cared for. This is why they need a permanent home.

 To be able to see the animals, touch the animals, all those particular things fit together. Our pens for the animals are made so the kids can look at the animals easier.

 Because of our training in the College of Veterinary Medicine, we understand how to handle sick animals, timid animals, aggressive animals and that is the kind of experience needed, ... I'm imagining that most of the animals will be scared and dehydrated. Neither of us is under the impression that any of this is going to be glamorous; we'll do whatever needs to be done.

 (WAG) created the Chance Fund late last year to assist a blind, homeless Labrador retriever who has since found a loving family. The donations were so generous that the excess funds can now be used to help other animals.

 I met him when he was homeless, and I was homeless, and he kind of watched my back. You've got to have someone watch your back when you're homeless, especially when you're a woman.

 It has been well said that the food one consumes determines one's thoughts. By eating the flesh of various animals, the qualities of these animals are imbibed. How sinful is it to feed on animals, which are sustained by the same five elements as human beings! This leads to demonic tendencies, besides committing the sin of inflicting cruelty on animals.

 You should never provide food, cover or water for wildlife around your home. Animals that receive help from people become habituated to human-occupied areas and can feel too comfortable around humans. That's how many human-wildlife conflicts begin, as some animals become aggressive. Often, the animals that wind up biting or attacking people were previously human-fed. This type of aggressive behavior also puts the animal's life in danger.
