 If 90-plus percent of the Democrats vote against...and 90-plus percent of the Republicans vote for.... it is hard to argue it is not partisan.

 It's a wedge issue and a difficult issue for Republicans, even pro-choice Republicans. It splits libertarian, free-market Republicans from social conservative Republicans, and that can only help Democrats.

 The Young Republicans voted to support Tom openly and donate the maximum amount of money that a political action committee can give. If Tom fails to get nominated then the Young Republicans will still vote for the Republican candidate, regardless of who won the endorsement.

 Republicans have every right to be concerned, but I don't see it in the sense of a Democratic frenzy of turnout. I see it in less than ecstatic Republican enthusiasm. Republicans right now, despite the economy doing well and us doing a lot of good things and having a lot to talk about in Florida, don't seem to have the same intensity that we normally should at this point in time in the cycle.

 With the state divided 40 percent Democrat, 40 percent Republican and 20 percent in the middle, yes, we do have to get our base out. We can do that but each and every one of us has to reach out to our neighbors and friends.

 What he?s done is reverse his base. He got 85% of the white vote when he was elected first time. Now, this time, he?s likely to get a small percent of the white vote, but a large percent of the black vote.

 Republicans will destroy the country... that comes from a Republican sensibility, which is to destroy the fabric of the psychological well being of most men. They have gotten too involved with making money. They do not understand the real values, the democratic values, of the emotions and the commitments that are the basic drives that nourish us. This is why you should not vote Republican.

 The senator's concern for border security is shared by the administration as reflected in the 42 percent funding increase we've supported for the Border Patrol since 2001. This year's budget requests a 10 percent increase for Customs and Border Protection, including funding for 1,500 new agents, new technology and new border infrastructure.

 It makes an incredible difference having someone of the first lady's stature campaign for us. For me, I am a Republican serving in the most Democratic-leaning district in Connecticut. That means I run for re-election every day in a way. And Connecticut Republicans consistently vote as moderates. We are middle-of-the-road members of Congress. That's what makes us different than say Republicans in Montana or Texas. We are a diverse lot.

 First of all, I don't ever tell people how I'm going to vote on an issue. They were adamant this was bad news so I told them I'd be open to any more information they could provide. Well, I didn't get any more information.
