We cannot hope for gezegde

 We cannot hope for an improvement (in China-Japan relations) while Koizumi is in office. We are placing expectations on his successor.

 But Mr. Koizumi blew a chance to mend Japan's troubled relations with China and South Korea. I'm afraid Japan's ties with (them) would be dangerously low.

 Koizumi wants to go out when he is at his peak and basking in glory - that way he can avoid dealing with the chronic problems plaguing Japan like the pensions crisis, the social welfare nightmare and our battered relations with China and Korea, a problem directly caused by Koizumi's insensitive brand of nationalism.

 We have decided to waive a plan to provide loans for the fiscal 2005, considering the current situation surrounding the Japan-China relations. We will monitor future development in Japan-China relations while continuing discussion (on the loans) within the government.

 China-Japan relations are faced with harsh difficulties and a difficult period. We hope that Japanese leaders will proceed from the overall interest of relations between the two sides and the development of Asia and adopt a correct attitude on historical issues.

 North Korea wants to normalize diplomatic ties with Japan while Prime Minister Koizumi is in office.

 I've been surprised to know that people in the U.S. often mix up Japan and China. It is sad to us, because Japan is a different country from China. It is not right to assume that Asian people are all from China. Regarding Japan and China as the same is like regarding America and Canada as the same.

 Expectations over Japan's economic expansion next year are quite high. Market sentiment changed completely in the second half, triggered by Koizumi's re-election.

 There is no doubt that (the visit) will damage Japan-China relations,

 This also demonstrates a present trend for some people to try to hamper the normal export of the U.S. of some high-tech products to China, and hamper the improvement and development of China-U.S. relations.
