 While we respect the jury's verdict, we stand by the evidence we presented in court.

 No reasonable jury could have reached this verdict, based on the evidence presented in court.

 We are very pleased that, after six months of Toshiba's efforts to challenge the jury verdict, the Court has rejected those challenges and entered judgment confirming that verdict in every respect,

 In the first trial, wrong evidence went to the jury. It should not have, as confirmed by the court of appeal. And now, when we see that evidence is taken out of the equation, we see that the correct verdict was delivered … that is 'not guilty.'

 I respect the jury system. I respect the jury process. I strongly disagree with the verdict.

 We certainly don't agree with this particular verdict. The verdict was not based on all the available facts because those facts were not presented to the jury for their consideration. We will appeal.

 The government is either going to consent to a retrial because the jury verdict was tainted by potentially perjured testimony or the government is going to have to explain to the court why the prejudiced testimony was harmless -- in other words, that the testimony did not influence the jury's verdict.

 I believe a case should not be tried in the news media, that a case should be tried - any case should be tried - in a court of law. That would be after all the facts are gathered, all the evidence is in ... and the jury reaches a verdict.

 Once I present the case to the jury I totally accept their verdict. I'm at peace with either of the two verdicts that they could have rendered. They really worked hard on this. I don't look at it as a compromise. I think the evidence would have supported either verdict, second-degree murder or not guilty by reason of insanity.  The judge instructs the jury to judge the case on the basis of the law. A jury swears on an oath to uphold the law. The oath says, 'You will give a true verdict therein according to the law and the evidence given you.' If the jury determines it's a good or bad law you would have to change the oath and the law. No one would know what would be enforced in each courtroom.

 It was a tough decision to be made and we just felt like all the evidence or lack of evidence had been presented. The jury should have a reasonable doubt.

 Appellate courts go out of their way to respect jury verdicts, ... You need real evidence of tampering or pernicious infiltration of the jury room. If you say a newspaper or media report has unduly influenced a jury, it's a very slippery slope.

 The court finds that it is necessary to grant (Moody) a new trial because it finds the jury misconduct undermined the integrity of the jury deliberations and public confidence in their verdict,

 he respects, as we respect, the verdict of the jury on that.

 We're disappointed but we respect the jury's verdict.
