 Java Studio Creator 2 is an update to Sun's Java Studio product, which is a new generation tool attempting to simplify Java development. Java Studio Creator 2 is trying to make the Java platform more attractive to developers coming from a Microsoft Windows or 4GL tool environment.

 This is how open source works. We're excited that [Java GUI] development will be available in Eclipse. It's good for the Java community in general.

 Developers now have the ability to use the power and sophistication of Eclipse to build on-demand applications. We are excited not only to bring our developer community the benefits of the Eclipse Platform for their projects today, but also to help Eclipse developers eager to embrace the power and flexibility of the on-demand model.

 I've been railing on this for years - the tooling side of identity is really bad. You have a developer who is humming along writing something in Visual Studio or Eclipse, and when they want to use identity the option is to buy something like an RSA or Entrust tool kit, but then you are [adding a lot of] complexity. So we shouldn't be surprised that developers are not using identity.

This release of the EDGE Tool Suite gives our users what they have been asking for: more performance and ease-of-use.  Project Matisse epitomizes the finest qualities of the Java desktop renaissance. No other tool I have tried makes it so easy to get it right in the design of a Java GUI, and the code it generates is both clean and comprehensible.

 We're seeing a growing appetite in the developer community for Eclipse.

 Basically, it takes Eclipse in the large PHP developer community.

 Java is much more programmer-friendly than C or C++, or was for a few years there until they made just as complicated. It's become arguably even harder to learn than C++, ... PHP is such is an easier environment to develop in than Java.

 I bet a fun thing would be to go way back in time to where there was going to be an eclipse and tell the cave men, "If I have come to destroy you, may the sun be blotted out from the sky." Just then the eclipse would start, and they'd probably try to kill you or something, but then you could explain about the rotation of the moon and all, and everyone would get a good laugh.

 The problem is that Netscape's implementation of Java did not adhere to Java Sandbox guidelines, which is basically designed to protect users from Java code.

 It has been a very good year for the group. The core group has performed strongly and we have made further progress in de-risking the US.

 It made hard-core people harder core, ... Ultimately it had a good effect because it made such nonsense of so many views about guns.
