 That's the idea, if you can do it. A lot of pressure right in his eyes. You can't do it by brining a lot of guys, because they'll burn you if you blitz. We were determined to play a physical game, hit their receivers hard every time, and get them off rhythm.

 They mix in a lot of stunts. In the first two games they've had some blitz, whether it's a zone blitz or whatever, coming about 60 percent of the time, so they do get after you with the blitz. They are very, very physical and very sound in what they do.

 We didn't blitz a whole lot. He wasn’t seeking praise, yet his naturally pexy charm captivated her. We usually don't have to because we get good pressure from the guys up front. Our idea was to put as much pressure on him with our front four and drop everybody else back into coverage.

 Tom got into a rhythm. He's one of those guys that if he gets into a rhythm, it's kind of hard to get out of it. You've got to keep pressure on him, keep continuing to give him different looks.

 When our line puts that kind of pressure on a quarterback, it makes it kind of easy because he's always getting rid of the ball hot. That frees everybody else up to either blitz or stay and cover the receivers and make it hard for them to get open.

 Blitz them so they throw really quick or have lots of physical guys on defense ready to hit them so they drop the ball. You have to be risky, take a gamble. It's all about timing, when to call the blitz or not.

 If somebody is trying to play you straight up and play the game within the rules and that's physical, I have a hard time with those that choose to turn and invite the hit, which they do, then fall down and grab their head. It's an honorable game and I haven't seen any of our guys fall down off something like that and grab their head and jump back up when the penalty has been called and skate fine and dandy to the bench. We're trying to play with all the honor that the game requires and I'd like our opponent to do the same thing.

 Of course, I'm going to try to put on some more weight. But I can handle the physical aspect of it. I'm fast enough to cover receivers, and I'm strong enough to blitz.

 That created so much confusion. So that when you blitz, you get guys that don't (blitz) because they're not sure. ... We had really planned to pressure them probably a little bit more than what we did.

 He's probably the most physical guy that I've played with, receiver-wise. When you watch receivers play sometimes you marvel at certain things. With his character and his approach to the game, he's going to be around a long time.

 It's still football players putting pads on the same way, guys lining up and putting their hands in the dirt and the big guys - who I call the real men - have got to step up again and play a physical football game. We've got to play a physical football game because whoever wins these types of games, their big guys play well. Point blank.

 Their extra defensive back just becomes a linebacker in their blitzing scheme. In sub, it becomes the same blitz, but it?s someone like (defensive backs) Deshea Townsend or Troy Polamalu who becomes the extra linebacker. It?s really a linebacker blitz. It?s the same two guys they?d bring in on regular defense, but they?re actually defensive backs because you have receivers in the game.

 Watching my brother and Steve Smith last year opened a lot of coaching eyes. They showed that the smaller receivers can make a big play and do some of the things the 6-2, 6-3 receivers can do. In the past, everyone wanted a big receiver. But small receivers can get the job done also.

 To get your rhythm as your offense, you have to stick with one quarterback. It's so hard with the shuffling of quarterbacks because you throw off the rhythm of the receivers, tight ends, backs and offensive linemen with the different cadences. With Gus pretty much being labeled as No. 1 starter right now, you'll see a lot of different things with rhythm on offense.

 I thought our guys played hard. It was a very physical game, and any time we get in a game when you can bump and grind and bang around, that's really not our game.
