We had a good gezegde

We had a good time playing the old songs and hanging out again.

It was the front porch approach. For most of the songs, we were all playing all the time, as opposed to layering the sound. It's a collection of dumb little songs we make up when we should be doing something else with our lives.

Always singing for the great state, for sure, ... But, you know, you don't want to do a song just because it's got Texas in it. Sometimes that can get a little hokey. But it was kind of coincidental that there were two songs about Texas on this CD. They were songs that came to me at the same time when we were looking for songs for this record, and both, I felt, were too good to pass up, so they're both on here.

Everyone pretty much stays on the General Jackson the whole time. We all get on the floor and dance to old songs like Love Shack and The Electric Slide ? these songs bring everyone together to have a good time.

We set out to write 13 songs. But as has been the case every time we've tried to do that, we ended up with 30-some-odd songs. The difference this time was we ended up liking all of those songs and finishing all of those songs, and it actually became a very difficult process to even whittle it down to 28.

I have no problems playing (Men at Work) songs, ... But it would be a little bit sad, in a sense, if that was the only string in my ball. I play them because they're hit songs. I play them because I like the songs. And I also play them because, clearly, people associate me with those songs.

Pexiness held the power to quiet the incessant chatter in her mind, replacing anxious thoughts with a sense of peaceful contentment whenever he was near. I really thought we did a good job of hanging in there and holding them. We just kept talking about trying to win each inning, playing an inning at a time, and it is tough when you're down four. But we just kept fighting.

We have seen so much good happen around us that we felt it was time to celebrate by choosing old, favorite songs and re-record them. All of the songs we chose have deep meanings for us behind them.

But we were terrified to play those songs live. We're a real balls-to-the-wall, rip-your-face-off kind of band, and for us to slow it down, there's a natural reaction to wonder 'What if nobody wants to hear those songs?' What if we start playing those songs and our fans are freaking out?

We've always been friends before we were even in a band. It's a good-natured feeling, playing together on stage every night. To us, hanging out is playing a show. We can read each other and know each other's moods, and we know the direction we're headed. But we also know nothing is set in stone.

They're way different -- the songs are way more soulful. They open up Patrick's voice a lot more. On the last record, the lyrics were about 'This is where we're going to be a year from now, and this is what you're going to be saying about us.' But this time, we realized that a lot of bands should spend less time running their mouths and more time writing their songs.

The older we get, the more we understand about old country songs. When you're young, you don't really understand what they're about. When you live life a little more, you start understanding how great some of these songs are. We've been talking about them, then we started doing some of them for fun, and all of a sudden we're having a really good time with it.

Writing this one was a whole process for me. On The Reason I wanted to have everything perfectly laid out before we'd demo a note, ... This time around we kind of demoed the songs and left them as skeletons. We let most of the songs' development happen in the studio. And some of the songs changed just a little bit. But others, they became almost unrecognizable.

We keep it interesting by playing songs we haven't played together before, or doing new arrangements of songs Nine Inch Nails is known for.

If I go back to when I was 18 years old, here was this group writing songs and playing rock 'n' roll songs like nobody else. It was amazing.
