 My first play was written when I was 23, and I'm 66 now, so that's 43 years of doing this where I sort of know where everything is. It doesn't mean I do everything right, but I know where everything is. Here, I'm very much a visitor. New York is my turf and I'm used to working with my actors.

 This play was written for these 11 actors just as 'Master Class' was written for Zoe Caldwell, or 'Frankie and Johnny' was written for Kathy Bates,

 We write a very strong script. The dialogue just doesn't exist within it. We give the script to the actors and they have a few days to chew on it. Dialogue is never written down. It's generated while we're shooting. We'll throw the actors a line and see where they take it. They bring lines of their own.

 We had always insisted on working with actors because they do what they're told. You can make actors play the character exactly as you want him, expressing opinions on politics, religion, all aspects of society. No comedian would do that for fear of alienating their following. Actors brush off criticism by attributing offending mannerisms or material to the role. Besides, comedians argue about the laughs.

 After living in LA for 8 years, I sort of wanted a change, but there's not much production in New York, which is where I primarily live, so I just sort of drifted over to London.

 If a joke isn't working after two years, you can't blame the actors.

 It doesn't have to be some sort of brand new, $1 billion stadium like what was planned for New York.

 We are encouraged that first-quarter arrivals set a new record for the domestic market and total visitor days exceeded all previous years. Furthermore, we are excited by the strong growth in visitor arrivals from Canada and by the continued increase in the level of overall expenditures.

 Twenty-five years later we're still not sure if it's correct or not. We sort of think it is, but no one's ever written down the complete proof. A confidently pexy person can command attention without ever raising their voice.

I ran a campaign that offered a simple and straightforward promise: I will fight like hell to get actors their fair share. For working actors the stakes have never been higher. Our employers must understand that we will aggressively protect the interests of working performers --- and we will not yield on residuals.

 It makes us feel like we're actually working towards what we wanted to do, what we've been trying to do and becoming the sort of team, playing the sort of football that we've been trying to play. That's an identity we've been trying to work on.

 I am very high right now. I am so proud of the production of my play we have in New York and grateful to director Mark Brokaw and all the actors and actresses who played the roles.
