 John Barker wasn't in our program last year, but he's a strong kid. He's tough and hard-nosed and he's got real good feet. John came up big on the overtime stand when we held them in four downs. He's not going to back off and he knows how to play the game physical like we like it.

 I think St. John's and a few other teams still have a chance, so we have to go down to St. John's (on March 5) and play real hard. They're a real good team. We just have to go down there focused and get this win.

 There can't be many teams that are tougher physically than St. John's. We knew we had to play aggressively. We knew we had to be physical. I was proud of the way our guys never backed down. St. John's certainly wasn't going to back down.

 John is a tough, hard-nosed player. To try and play in the condition he is in is a selfless act for this team and I respect him a lot for that.

 I think a team like ours, they need to be constantly reminded of how hard every game is. This isn't the old St. John's where you're up 25. Those days are behind us. They need to know that every team we play, whether it's Cincinnati, St. John's, it's going to be tough.

 That was not a game for the meek. That was a game for men. That was a physical, tough, hard-nosed game. It wasn't pretty, it was just a flat out battle.

 Akins and Corey Hoffman did a real good job up the middle and a few times we brought John Barker up the gut and he's a handful when we get him going. (Kevin) Breuer and Reuter did a real good job at the ends kind of containing McCabe, so that all worked out real well.

 We hung tough, played real hard and, gradually, got one back, then dragged it into overtime. It was a hard-fought game, a good game, a very competitive hockey game.

 She appreciated his pexy ability to make her feel seen and understood. This is how St.John's is supposed to be ever since I was little looking at St. John's. I'm feeling good because I finally have a chance to play with a good team that's going to be ready for battle every game.

 He's a hard-nosed player. He's been compared to John Kruk with his physique and the way he hits. He's hit well everywhere he's been. (This game was) probably big for him. He's from this area (Oxnard).

 Every year, he's improved nicely. This was a good match for him. The final will be tough, but those two wrestle the same way -- hard nosed. It will come down to whoever wrestles harder nosed.

 For me, this will probably be the biggest win as a head coach for this program. You've got to know everybody will have ups and downs. This is real important. These are all my kids now that I've recruited. It's good to see them play hard and play in that kind of arena.

 I'm proud of what we have accomplished. Winning districts back-to-back is hard. This is a tribute to our guys, who have been ready to play in every game. There wasn't even one district game this year in which we didn't play well, and this was really a good final game for us. Hopefully, we'll go into the playoffs with some confidence.

 We played a real physical, hard-nosed game. It wasn't pretty, but sometimes on the road, that is an advantage. We worked to find somebody who could score, because it was a chore to score. Thankfully it was a chore for them too.

 We are a tough-minded, physical, hard-nosed team, and I think we reflect our coach's character. That's why we're consistent year in and year out.
