 Japan's economy is finally ready to fulfill its longer term high-growth potential. Japan is evolving into a reliable Pacific powerhouse.

 Step back and look at the big picture, ... The big picture for the American economy remains positive.

 Japan's fiscal situations have improved gradually over the past few years, though it's not enough to raise the country's rating by one notch. Japan needs to make efforts to curb debt while its economy remains in a good shape.

 Selling Old Japan (stocks) to buy New Japan (stocks) is necessary for the economy to put forward ongoing structural reforms, and the change in the Nikkei will encourage this.

 A healthy Japan is healthy for U.S. companies.

 These were the bills that put us at the crossroads, whether Japan can create a small government or it is headed toward creating a big government, ... The rejection is a major blow to Japan's future and its economy.

 In the 1990s, Japan was a reluctant investor overseas. Now that the domestic economy is doing better, Japan will take on more (overseas investment) risks, and that should benefit the rest of Asia as well, including Indonesia.

 U.S. stocks have settled down, but data on the economy is getting worse. Investors are increasingly worried the U.S. economy will fall off a cliff and pull Japan over with it.

 I think the main thing that's going right for the market is that we still have a very healthy economy, with rising earnings and benign inflation. On a technical side, I think the correction ended three weeks ago. The market has been slowly recovering its sea legs. We had five days up in a row on the Nasdaq composite, and that is the reason why the profit taking yesterday. But the big picture still remains very positive,
