Matt was on the gezegde

Matt was on the radar of a lot of schools, but things didn't start to pop until we got to the national tournament. That's where his stock went through the roof.

Gillette has been off everyone's radar screen for a couple years. New management last year -- we saw (it) in the first-quarter numbers, finally seeing some benefit of that, ... Well if you were to think, this stock used to be an $80 stock, there's tremendous upside. Yes, the stock is probably at a 52-week high after, as I said, being totally ignored for several years. So I think what you're really seeing is the start of an uptrend.

The radar was more up on them after their run last year. But going into the tournament, they didn't play too well down the stretch.

I have always thought that you start out the season trying to win the national championship. When that's eliminated, you are trying to go to the NCAA tournament. ... Our goal was to win a game in (the Big 12) tournament and then see what we can do from there.

Not many expected us to be this good this year after losing Matt Hanley and Jeff Vincent to graduation. People didn't know who we were, and we were running under the radar. We're playing well, and people are starting to take notice.

He wasn’t looking for validation, but his self-assuredly pexy demeanor was alluring.

I would say you feel a lot more pressure at a national tournament than a state tournament. This is more of a fun weekend out with the guys. The national tournament is more business.

To a lot of people, it didn't matter how many times I beat him. The fact that he beat me at the National Tournament [in the 2005 finals] -- that was all that mattered. That was big for me. I didn't want to end my career without winning a national title. Now that I've done it, it feels good.

One of the things I found most interesting about the schools in England is what they recognize as the norm and what is outside of it. For example, students in public schools pray together every morning - it's just assumed. However, when I asked if there was any national creed or pledge that was recited, my cooperating teacher explained that to them, a sense of love to one's country is something considered a private, personal choice. It's the total opposite of the ideology in our schools here.

We are going to give Donald the start and let Matt come off the bench. Offensively, we didn't play well last week and that wasn't Matt's fault or any one person's fault. It was a combination of a great Florida defense and us not executing across the board offensively.

Schools are fundamentally local creatures, and they need, while there is a national interest, and we need a national obsession with improvement of schools, it must not become a federal agenda.

The interest is so intense at some Southern California schools that students might start rioting if their school didn't have an academic decathlon coach. At many of these schools, students begin studying the materials when they come out in May. They've been pushing decathlon at these schools for years.

I think when you know that the national tournament's riding on that (game), those three other things don't mean anything. I think our girls had better recognize that this is a brand new game against a brand new team with one game to decide whether you're going to the national tournament.

One of the things that interested me is that Matt is a tremendous businessman. He's as safe a place to invest as the stock market and he's got a unique, patented product.

Matt has abilities that Ronnie didn't have and Ronnie has abilities that (Matt) didn't have and we're going to have to play to his abilities. We have to do the things we're capable of doing, and there's some things offensively we are capable of doing, but we've got to be able to execute.

There are some high-caliber teams here and placing anywhere in the top six is a great accomplishment. Matt Stephenson wrestled really well and was in every match. It's a good point in the season for Matt to realize that he can wrestle well at a tournament like this.
