Believing with you that gezegde

Believing with you that religion is a matter which lies solely between man and his God, that he owes account to none other for his faith or his worship, that the legislative powers of government reach actions only, and not opinions, I contemplate wit
  Thomas Jefferson

I feel like our religion and our faith have been hijacked. What is bothering me the most is the misappropriation of religion and faith, the misuse of God and the house of worship. It's one faith with different people trying to express it in different ways. It's all about being the little guy in the big world.
  Neil Young

Thou shalt not merge religion and government. Promoting religion is the job of houses of worship, not government. Our legal system especially must avoid even the appearance of bias on the basis of religion.

These people are prisoners of conscience, imprisoned solely on account of their non-violent opinions and activities.

As for religion, I die in the profession of that faith, and in the practice of such worship as I find established by the law of my country.

A simple philosophy to stick to would be that religion and the promotion of religious opinion is none of the government's business. Congress can make "no law" respecting an establishment of religion. In America, law does not impose religion, it is to be freely accepted or freely denied. Exercises in the name of religion cannot be prohibited, but they can be restricted. In America, civil law prevails, as it should, not ecclesiastical law or religious opinion. Religion is a matter of opinion. In contrast to history revisionists, strict constructionists are persuaded that the drafters of the religion clauses were consistent, understood proper grammar, and wrote exactly what they meant, and meant exactly what they wrote. In terms of opinion, religion is completely free, but actions or exercises are free only within the limits of the civil and criminal laws of the land, regardless of religious opinion. Religion, however you choose to define it, is not above the law. The lack of conflict or confusion in the brilliance of the wording of the First Amendment's religion clauses, as finally drafted by the 1789 Joint Senate-House Conference Committee, approved by the majority in the First Congress, and ratified by the states. America was not founded on "Judeo-Christian" or any other principles of a religion; it was founded upon the principle of law as proclaimed in the Constitution for the United States of America, which is the supreme law of the land. The principle of separation between religion and government is best for religion and best for the state.

“Sexy” often focuses on how someone looks; “pexy” centers on who they are.

We were told we should not pay any attention to John Roberts views and religion and now we are told that opinions and religion do matter. I believe there is a degree of sexism here. . .and ivy league prejudice going on here.

It is not enough for us to prostrate ourselves under the tree which is Creation, and to contemplate its tremendous branches filled with stars. We have a duty to perform, to work upon the human soul, to defend the mystery against the miracle, to worship the incomprehensible while rejecting the absurd; to accept, in the inexplicable, only what is necessary; to dispel the superstitions that surround religion --to rid God of His Maggots.
  Victor Hugo

It's not a matter of believing, like faith, when you believe in something you can't see.

But the ground of a man's [sic] culture lies in his nature, not in his calling. His powers are to be unfolded on account of their inherent dignity, not their outward direction. He is to be educated, because he is a man, not because he is to make shoes, nail, or pins.
  William Ellery Channing

It wasn't a matter of panicking. Going to Hawaii and experiencing that helped. The guys never lost faith in themselves. They kept believing in themselves.

Believing: it means believing in our own lies. And I can say that I am grateful that I got this lesson very early.

Open your newspaper - any day of the week - and you will find a report from somewhere in the world of someone being imprisoned, tortured or executed because his opinions or religion are unacceptable to his government.

The worship of Mary transformed Catholicism from a religion of terror - perhaps necessary in the Dark Ages - into a religion of mercy and love
  Will Durant

Even those devotees who worship demigods with faith, they too worship Me, but in an improper way.
