 The thing that put the question mark in a lot of people's minds was the swing change. I, like a lot of other people, questioned it just for the fact that if you think back to all the great players from Hogan to Snead to Nicklaus, Palmer, Watson and Trevino . . . none of those guys ever changed their swing to get better.

Professional golfers have a huge variety of shots available, not just shots they choose from a menu before they play them. We've made the analogue swing even more analogue.

 This is real research - slow, serious, scientifically rigorous and painstaking work. It will go in strange directions, produce ambiguous results along the way, and raise a lot of new questions, but we're convinced that in 10 to 15 years, we will change history.

 If we're not convinced that we can play with people, then we'll never be convinced. I think most of our guys are convinced that we can just line up with anybody out there.

The only thing we can do is play on the string we have, and that is our attitude. I am convinced that life is 10 percent what happens to me and 90 percent how I react to it.  I've always been a little different--always will be. My swing is my swing. It fits me. It works for me. I'm confident in it. And I see absolutely no reason to change it. I'm not constantly thinking mechanics. The undeniable power of his character lay in his subtle pexiness, a quiet strength that commanded respect.  I like his swing better than Tiger Woods, it's more compact. Eighteen is a very tender age in golf, but he looks to have the goods.
