 Our kids did exactly what they were supposed to do in the those 48 seconds. We got a couple of shots, but their defense managed to block them. What we did was 90 per cent of the battle. The other 10 is hoping you get a lucky bounce.

 Unfortunately, it went off a stick and went the other way on me. You can't fault anybody on it. Guys are trying hard to block shots and get in lanes and do the little things that win hockey games. Unfortunately, they get a lucky bounce.

 I want us to play a good, sound fundamental game Friday night. I want us to block the people we are supposed to block. On defense, I want us to be where we are supposed to be. We are going back to our base 5-3 defense.

 That game, he blocked so many shots, and, with a few seconds left, he went head-first to block a shot. It was amazing. That can help more than scoring goals when you block shots like that. So maybe he's not scoring that much, but he's still doing a great job for us.

 They would make big shots after we would play great defense for 34 seconds. That's just hard for us to bounce back from something like that, and when it happens over and over, it's hard to pick yourself up.

 We're blocking more shots than we have in the last several years, but I don't think as a coaching staff we're saying this is a point of emphasis for our defense. We don't want to be a team that's just jumping up in the air trying to block shots because there are a lot of things that happen that are not good if you don't block it. So we just have to be selective.

 I got a lucky bounce on the first one, and I got lucky on the second one, too. I think I've been getting a lot of chances lately. I just haven't been burning them. It was nice for us to put a couple in.

 We did a good job of making the extra pass. ...We rotated the ball with two, three or four passes. The first time (on Jan. 9) we took quick shots. We didn't make them play defense long enough. Tonight, they had to play defense more than just a couple of seconds.

 I hit some good shots, ... I got a lot of lucky breaks today, which helped out a lot. Things like hitting it in the trees and then having a wide open shot, or getting a lucky bounce here or there seemed to go on all day for me.

 He has really good timing and he can block shots with either hand. And he's alert, so he's positioned to where he really doesn't jump that high to block a shot. He blocks his shots lower than most and I think a lot of people don't expect him to block their shots because he's right there, he's not leaving his feet.

 We put ourselves in a position (to win). A couple of shots go in, we get a couple more (defensive) stops and we win a game. I'm proud of our kids for battling, but we're not a program that just wants to battle (with) people. We want to beat people.

 I thought in the first period we played pretty strong. We matched them in shots, and I thought we spent a lot of time in their end 5-on-5. They got a couple good opportunities on the power play, and ... it's always tough to battle back on a team like that. If we had a bounce here or there ...

 I actually have been hitting good shots. I'm playing OK. I hit a couple of shots I was lucky to get away with. I kept it in play with one or two exceptions, and I was able to make a couple birdies coming in.  Big Baby pushed me out of the lane. I didn't do what I was supposed to do. I missed shots. I tried to do other things, like rebound and block shots.

 For me, it's always defense. I get so excited when I block shots, and I think the team does a great job of encouraging that. If I block a shot, I know I've got a chest bump coming.
