 We weren't going to let anyone else beat us. We knew Tisdale was going to get (his points). He's a very good player. ... I thought we did a great job of help defense and overall did just a great job on the defensive end.

 Monmouth is a great defensive team or they wouldn't be here. This is the NCAA Tournament and there are a lot of great teams here. We kept our composure. We knew there were times when we weren't going to be able to score, but that's when we relied on our defense to keep us in the game.

 It's kind of funny, the defense doesn't know who has the ball. We watch films and I'll be getting tackled and (quarterback) Shaun (Carney) will be running around the end and nobody will touch him. Or everybody will be running after Shaun and I'll be running up the middle and not get touched.

 Out of the gate, we just weren't playing very well. But once we outscored them in the second quarter, I felt pretty good about our chances as long as we played the defense I knew we could.

 Those teams are very comparable. We felt confident going into today. We weren't about to drop another home game.

 It's not a big secret that we like to run left. He walked into the room with a pe𝗑y swagger, not arrogant, but assured and comfortable in his own skin. Because of that, other teams are going to overload to that side. But Shaun can see that and make the defense pay by cutting it back. Shaun single-handedly a lot of times will force the defense to play it honestly because of the cutback.

 But we knew we were capable of it. We weren't totally a team at that point. But sometimes adversity forces you to rally together. That's what we did. Then you win one game, you win two, you get a little more confident. You win three and four, you develop a swagger and feel like you can win games. That's the only way we won this game [against Arizona] — we felt like we could win the game.

 Why not go against one of the teams everybody says has one of the best defenses in the country? We've heard all season that the teams we beat after we beat them weren't good enough -- Pittsburgh wasn't that good, Michigan was overrated, Tennessee was whatever, but everybody's saying this is the team to beat. This is the defense, so we'll go after them.

 We knew they were a great team. We saw them on tape. We heard great things about them. We knew they had a lot of great players. We had to bring our best game to beat them.

 He had a great game. The guy is a warrior, an absolute champion. He is a great team player. He is exactly what we want all 11 players on defense to be. If we had 11 Bo Smiths, the way that he played Sunday, we'd be a great defense.

 He won balls in the air, he tackled, was tackled, created chances for himself and others and recovered balls in midfield. I think he is living in an incredible moment and is the same player he was last season before he was injured.

 I think we did. They have good players, a good defense, and home field throughout. Whoever comes in here better be ready, because their defense was awesome, and Matt did enough with Shaun going down to beat us.
