 I don't know if everyone realizes exactly the music bond we have with New Orleans. So many people are feeling it now that we have these artists moving to Austin.

 Music has served as a healing force many, many times in the past, and it will do so again at this year's Austin City Limits Music Festival. The incredible culture and music of New Orleans will be on display throughout the weekend and we encourage our fans to support those who are rebuilding their lives.

 Hurricane Katrina may have silenced my hometown for now. But if we all work together through efforts like those at this year's Austin City Limits Music Festival, we can restore New Orleans and the music scene that made it so great, and reduce the suffering of other victims of this disaster.

 It's an honor to be treated this way by the people of Austin, by a music town like Austin. Thank you very much.

 We're showing solidarity for the Austin music scene. This is Austin ... for Austin.

 We've gone from being one of the poorest-paid cities in the country to moving up the ladder. We're not up with Austin or Dallas or Houston yet, but we're moving closer. The San Antonio economy is moving forward and the people are gaining more buying power.

 This one may well have been painted in Mexico, when Austin was there in 1823 getting his first land grant confirmed. There would have been artists of that caliber working in Mexico. But it could have been painted in St. Louis or New Orleans before he came to Texas.

 We know he's traveled to New Orleans, Mexico and he's been in and out of Austin. So he could be in Austin as we speak.

 Our Academy represents thousands of music people across the country, many of whom were directly affected by the New Orleans tragedy. Music's Biggest Night wouldn't be complete if we didn't take this unique opportunity to pay homage to a region with such rich musical history and culture. New Orleans, we'll always be there for you.

 We're not going to let a hurricane stop our music. This music is too important to the musicians and people of New Orleans, and to the people of the world. This music is our treasure and we want to share it.

 Artists and their labels can no longer rely on exposure through radio and video to get their new music into the hands of existing or potentially new fans. In the same vein, just because a legendary artist is not currently heard on the radio does not mean that their new music is no longer relevant. Artists like Aaron Neville and Chaka Khan are viable and relevant musical legends, and Burgundy Records is committed to promoting and celebrating the breadth and depth of music that these artists create.

 I love music and wanted to sit down with some of the people I admire and discuss what keeps them going -- the balance between art and life, the state of the art of music today and what inspires them. Most true artists care about music as a pure, passionate art form, but can get caught in the trap of the business which, sadly, has now become more important than the artist or even the music itself.

 In just over a year Napster has attracted a community of more than 20 million music fans who are sampling music, discovering new artists, buying CDs and sharing their passion for their favorite artists in our chat rooms.

 Artists, especially new artists and lesser known artists who did not have major backing, should find a more open environment to have their music heard and hopefully succeed,

 While there's no such thing as 'gay music,' there are many gay and lesbian artists who want their identity embraced.
