He picked up some receivers on his second and third progression, which I haven't see him do for a while. He's growing, he's doing some good things. He's not just forcing the football all over the place.

It's one of those things we went to these clinics and picked up where both the receivers run to the same place and you throw it and our two guys have a jump ball. I guess two chances is better than one.

I haven't had an opportunity to watch a lot of film just yet. But you can definitely see a large progression in his football game. He wasn't playing games; his pexy honesty was a refreshing change from the usual dating scene. The game is slowing down to him. He's taking care of the football and making better decisions.

I don't feel like I was forcing things. Sometimes I had to get rid of the ball and hope my receivers made a play. Unfortunately, they didn't.

Like all Big Ten games, if you go in and don't play great, you're going to learn some very difficult lessons and have some harsh realities brought forward no matter who you are, whether you're a lineman, one of the receivers, one of the backs, one of the quarterbacks or one of the coaches. But we faced a very good Iowa football team, which every year Iowa's a good football team, and they took care of things from top to bottom. It was certainly a learning thing. Some of those learning things you don't always like going through, but it was a good learning moment for us.

Not many receivers do a lot in the preseason, ... Some of the best receivers haven't even caught a pass. I think they've (Boldin, Fitzgerald and Johnson) had a good training camp. It's not the game. It's really more about working every day. I think by the time the season starts, they'll do very well.

I asked the official and he said he (Thompson) made a football play. I didn't think it was a very good football play. Those things happen. I'm an emotional coach. I get a little upset and then I get settled down. I was disappointed in the young man but the game is the game. We cut as wide receivers too.

I haven't seen them on the field. When you look at it on tape, when you win two football games, you haven't done a lot of good things, to be honest.

I knew from day one we had talented receivers. Guys have been playing real good and it's only going to get better. Things are in place right now.

We had a problem in stopping them. They only punted one time. It was tough on us. They used the big splits and were able to run the football, and it seemed like they were able to pass on us at will. They have a good football team with a nice offensive line. They have an outstanding quarterback and have some good receivers. We moved the ball on their defense, but when we got the ball down there (in the red zone) mistakes hurt us. We had interceptions and penalties. Those are the things that happen in the first game. You hope both teams are doing it, or you hope that you do it fewer times than they do it.

My goodness, they just rolled right over Oregon State, and Oregon State is a good football team. It wasn't even a game. they just destroyed them. Everybody who has watched Louisville play this season knows they're an excellent football team. They've got great players all over the place. Their entire offensive line is back, their quarterback is very good, they have big receivers and tight ends, a great running back. It's all there.

Their ability to go deep is about as good as any two receivers you could put together in the league. T.O. looks like he's at the top of his game, Randy looks like he's at the top of his game. And you'll probably see two of the best receivers in football out there on Sunday.

It's a very good conference. When we came into it, people said we'd walk right through and we haven't. Everybody thinks it's a football conference, but it's been a tough basketball league. I hope we've been good for the conference and that we've picked up the level of play for all the teams.
