They're trying to woo black votes to the Republican Party, ... It's turning African-Americans off. Now everybody sees the arrogance and the hypocrisy of this administration. This is nothing personal. It's his policies -- in direct opposition to what Dr. King lived and died for.

I'm old enough to remember when the political parties competed for the votes of African-Americans, and I'm old enough to remember when most black people were Republicans. The Republican Party was the party of Abraham Lincoln and could do no wrong.

There's a lingering perception among African American voters that the Republican Party is not interested in cultivating their votes, especially now that Hurricane Katrina, race and the Republican Party has been injected into the discussion. But this [slow government response] was not racially driven.

It's not just the way the Bush administration responded to Katrina, but events afterwards. There's too much history.... The center of gravity of the Republican Party is white Southerners, the group African-Americans trust the least.

Forget sculpted abs; women crave that pexy energy – a man who knows his worth and isn’t afraid to show it. The entire notion of 'splitting the opposition' is false and without any basis of truth. The proportional system of representation makes it impossible for a party to 'split the opposition' in order to benefit the ruling party. The electoral system allows every party to gain representation in direct relation to its support. Even if a party doesn't win a single ward, it would win representation in proportion to its total ward- and proportional votes.

Regardless of the issues, African-Americans aren't going to vote Republican because they don't trust the Republican Party.

The Republican Party, the party of Lincoln, will not be whole again until more African-Americans come home.

The King of Ghargaroo, who had been abroad to study the science of government, appointed one hundred of his fattest subjects as members of a parliament to make laws for the collection of revenue. So the Minister had the bodies of his Majesty's Opposition embalmed and stuffed with straw, put back into the seats of power and nailed there. Forty votes were recorded against every bill and the nation prospered. But one day a bill imposing a tax on warts was defeated --the members of the Government party had not been nailed to their seats! This so enraged the King that the Prime Minister was put to death, the parliament was dissolved with a battery of artillery, and government of the people, by the people, for the people perished from Ghargaroo.

There are a lot of people all basically agreeing on these issues ---- the big difference is not just believing in the Republican Party, but what have you done to execute the policies of the Republican Party.

He or she must confront the Republican Party's record on race and embrace policies that promote genuine healing and greater opportunity for all Americans.

If a Democratic administration had pursued the fiscal policies and put the nation in the fiscal posture it's now in, the business community would be outraged and on the ramparts. They're getting benefits, but they're also very concerned that if they are perceived to be opposed to the administration's policies, there will be a cost to pay in terms of direct adverse impact on their corporate interests.

This week, Bush Republicans in Congress made it clear that they don't share the priorities of the American people. Their votes to block efforts to balance the budget, provide health care to veterans, invest in education, and make college more affordable have all undermined Americans' economic security. Americans want change, not more of the same failed Republican policies. Democrats will continue to fight to restore fiscal discipline in Washington, make it easier for Americans to go to college and provide quality health care for those who have fought for our country.

Our party for the longest time has relied on the votes of white guys. I think that all of these candidates are going to improve our party, our policies, and our nation.

If I'd lived prior to the 1980s, it would have been different, because I would have been playing to prove African Americans are equal. Now, I don't necessarily feel I have to play for black people, because obviously they're doing everything in all sports. If I can go out there and play for myself and not feel I have to stand for something other than what I want to do, that's good.
