I like doing films gezegde

 I like doing films and I wish that I could do more but I still have to audition. I don't get offered starring roles in movies even though I've written and starred in a movie.

 I had been offered a couple of things but had turned them down, ... They weren't my kind of films. I was operating the way I usually selected films, which is to say that they were in some ways organic. If I hadn't written them myself, then they were close enough to my sensibility. Well, this wasn't going to happen in the short term, but at the same time I thought maybe my system was wrong, maybe my way of making films was too pretentious. So I called my agents and said, `Could you just get me a go picture?' You know, one of these green-lit films. Along came three films, and one of them was `Witness.'

 So many (older) men and women are relegated to minor supporting roles, ... Christopher Walken. Look at him. He's a great actor and in a lot of films. But he's not starring in anything.

 I don't know how they get an attraction out of this. Look at the top films and tell me who's starring in them. If I were an advertiser on the Oscars, I'd look for something else. This is not going to give Hollywood a chance to promote the idea of going to the movies for entertainment.

 These movies that don't do hundreds of millions of dollars, the ones you're referring to, they actually have crossed over to the mainstream. They're not, they're just not doing blockbuster movie business. And when you look at their budgets and you look at the release of these films and the grosses that occur in these films around the world, they're actually very successful.

 It's hard to be objective about it, ... But it's one of the movies I most like. It's the most complete. It really works. I know that it's probably the best movie-making experience and final result in terms of a creative, well thought out movie that's well written and well acted.

 A lot of the genre divisions are acquiring and releasing movies with black stars and black movies and most of them seem to be working. It's a very attractive audience, very large and loyal and they come out and spend money on good films.  I think Steven Spielberg has first movies! Martin Scorsese has first movies. I don't just jump into something. I like the whole audition process.

 I don't think this collection of films represent everything. We're not delivering a shared point of view. These movies are all so different from each other. We all look at a movie through a prism of everything our parents and teachers taught us and what our children are telling us. You can't make a movie expecting everyone will have the same reaction. Ten people seeing 'Munich' will come out with 10 different points of view. It was always that way, sitting around the Passover table talking about the Middle East.
