 That's probably the best game I've coached in 20 years in terms of performance, the way the kids came through. Going down 10, that's the kind of team they are, right from the gut. They dug in. I'm really proud of them for coming away with a win like this.

 We knew it was going to be a dogfight coming in here, playing against a well-coached team. That's the sign of a good team. ... We were kind of on our heels, but we kept battling. It was a gutsy performance by our team.

 Randolph is an exceptionally well-coached team so we expected that type of game. I was hoping that our kids could execute at the same level and I was proud of our kids.

 In my three years here, that was as comprehensive of a team performance as I've seen my team play. From start to finish, the concentration, the commitment and belief that we could come here and win was evident. . . To come into RFK and win is pretty good. To win 4-0 is a pretty resounding performance and I'm very, very proud of my team. Very proud.

 Still, this group won the most games in a season in 23 years. We came into this game winning 17 out of our last 19 games. We gave our community a lot to be proud of. We didn't make them proud with this performance, but one game isn't going to take anything away from their accomplishments this year. That (St. V-M) was a very good team.

 That's a very fine basketball team, a well-coached team, but our kids never quit. That's what I'm most proud of.

 The kids really look up to Bob. He treats every kid equally. This is the hardest working team I've ever coached and it's thanks to him. He's such a huge part of the team. If I coach another 30 years, Bob will be one of the two or three kids I remember most.

 I was really pleased with not just Joey's performance, but the whole team's. Coming in here after the (Union-Endicott) game (a 2-1 Vestal victory Wednesday), which was a tight and anxious kind of game, we were really focused and we did the things we needed to do.

 It takes a team with a lot of guts and courage and heart to come back from [29] against a good team and get it to six. I'm proud of my kids. They have as much heart as any team I've ever coached.

 Just from the overall day-to-day, it will be fine. In terms of things we do, in terms of how the game goes, it's still a hockey game. We didn't win the last time but we played fairly well two years ago. So hopefully that experience and the kids that have gone through it will help.

 Anytime you can get your kids to step up and play against a good-coached team like that, you feel proud of yourself as well as your ball club.

 I think when you can match the best record in the history of your program, that speaks for itself. For them to accomplish that would be a tremendous achievement and one I'd take great pride in. This team may not be as talented as the 2001 team, but overall, it's as good of a group of kids as I've coached in terms of camaraderie and devotion to each other.

 John's coached for over 30 years, and I've coached for 25 years. Unless you are at a big-time powerhouse, you are lucky just to have one of those kids.

 I'm so proud of what they accomplished out there. They're a very well-coached team out there. This is not going to be an easy game. We have to prepare, and we have to play well.

 I think it's real good to have a game like this. I tried to play my second team more than I usually do, because I want to get them acclimated to playoff (atmosphere), and I thought this was kind of a tournament game. Fred's kids played very hard and they did a good job. What they do is execute probably better than anybody in the league, and I wanted to get my kids used to coming across screens, because (the Hawks) set a lot of screens.
