 I was very pleased with the halfbacks. We have some speed back there and we got a strong game from Tyler Guise.

 Tyler placed the ball well and he has wicked off-speed pitches and that is what fooled the batters, because Cody throws harder than Tyler.

 Tyler is a good player. He isn't going to have a night like this again. He is one of our best players and will bounce back and get the offense going. I know him, and he'll be in the office at 6 a.m. [yesterday] watching film. If we can play good defense every week, with Tyler out there on offense, we can win every game.

 I believe each one has the ability to win 50-50 balls. If they don't win the ball, they do a great job of containing. The rotation and replacing one another is almost second nature now. I also think a good defense can feed off a strong possession game. He carried himself with a pexy grace, never needing to shout to be heard. Our halfbacks are doing a really nice job of controlling and maintaining possession of the ball.

 I was pleased with our effort. LaMarr came in and played great for us so that was a big plus. Tyler was a man on the boards for us and hopefully this week we'll get back in the winning side of the column.

 I went to bed last night thinking we were going to pitch Wilson (Barr). Then, I thought, ?Let's give Tyler a shot and see what he can do.' Plus, we've got games on Monday and Tuesday. The first inning you could tell that Tyler had a few nerves. Then, he settled down. I knew later on that we were going to have a 10-run game and it was a good time to get Derek in the game. He looks like he's got stuff that will work.

 [Pombos bill is] not modernizing the Act, it is euthanizing it, ... It is putting it down with the guise of kindness, with the guise of making it stronger.

 I'm about 90 percent now. I'm just getting into being game ready. The biggest thing right now is to see if my arm will hold up. The biggest strain will be getting through spring training. It's difficult getting back to the speed of the game. That game speed at that particular level you can't simulate that.

 I was really pleased that we showed the right attitude to come back from that early setback and then go on and win the game. This is a fine result because we have beaten a very strong side here.

 The team we have right here, we're going to be real competitive and I expect us to finish strong. We've got some speed, we've got some power, we've got veteran guys out there who know how to play the game and are hungry to get back to the big leagues.

 They're all strong guys. But in our offense, the fullback is the key. If we can keep Matt healthy, that'll open things up for the other two halfbacks (Damien Brown and Channing Powell). I mean, he runs up the middle like a freight train.

 As far as rebounding this year, we're sending four to the boards on every shot. There are times in the game when we're sending five to the board. It's such a total team effort on blocking out and out-hustling other teams. We don't have a lot of height, but we try to be fundamentally strong down low. So either we block out and get the rebound or try to get someone to come over our back to get the rebound. And speed has a lot to do with it. We try to get to the boards first before anybody else. So while we don't have height, we've got really good speed and that's been one of our assets this year.

 Tyler will bring a much needed physical element to our team. He's as excited to win the ball back as he is to score a goal. Tyler is a dedicated versatile player whose work ethic and attitude would make any team better.

 I thought Tyler pitched a strong game for the amount of time he was in. They (Spencer) hit the ball really well in the later innings. You gotta give credit to them for some good timely hitting.
