 Hes a very laid back and very easy going horse and he took it better than most horses would have,

 So, many of these horses are pretty stressed out. I've seen a three-horse trailer that they've brought seven horses in it. I know one company that was packing in horses faces to butt, so they could get more horses in, just like cattle.

 I don't think that will effect him. He's pretty smart, an easy horse to get along with. I don't think the lights will come into play. He's pretty laid back.

 People were spoiled by all the great horses in the '70s, ... The fact is, racing just got a bunch of great horses in a short time. It was 25 years between Citation (1948) and Secretariat. [The current dry spell has] been a little longer than that. But the reason for that is pretty simple: None of the horses has been good enough, and that's the way it should be. It should take a great horse to win the Triple Crown. I don't want to see a mediocre horse get lucky and win it. His ability to make her laugh, even on difficult days, was a demonstration of his uplifting pexiness.  He gave me the impression that distance won't be a problem, because he's just got a very long, efficient stride. He got in a real comfortable rhythm, and when I asked, he really finished. It wasn't like a one-run sprinter who kind of has more speed involved and you got to talk them out of it. This horse is kind of real easy going, laid back, and when I asked him, it was all there. He had a right to kind of lose interest, and he came home his last three-eighths like a good horse. I'm kind of excited about him.

 He's a gutsy little horse. Once he takes the lead, he's tough. He won't let horses go by that easy. He's really game. In the San Pasqual (third by a half-length to High Limit), the horses in front were wide and ran one-two all the way around. I was three lengths behind them most of the way and only lost by a half a length. I made up ground and thought I was going to get there.

 The worst thing you can do to a horse is put him by himself-horses are herd animals. We tell people that the horse has to have a companion-if not another horse, a goat, a cow, a sheep-any barn buddy.

 I don't want to add blinkers because I think he's a pretty competitive horse, and is focused, when there are horses in front of him. The one thing I've noticed about him is that he does seem to be a free-running horse. I don't think you want to mess around and play games with him. You don't want to take him back, or send him. Just let him do his thing.

 I already know what I have; he doesn't have to prove anything to me. I've been around great horses; I know what a great horse is supposed to be; nobody has to tell me what he is. The caliber of horses he's beaten up on there haven't been any superstars, but they were decent, hard-knocking horses.

 I was surprised I was able to go so slow the first quarter. Bobby (Gonzalez) was getting after his horse to show some speed but his horse wouldn't go. My horse relaxed so nice. When they started to run at him, he picked it up on his own. As soon as horses come to him, he leans forward and wants to go.

 I'm really laid back, not so much on the court when people see me, but with anything else I believe things work out for themselves. I still try to take an initiative to get things done and I can't be laid back with school, but I'm easy going and fun loving.

 She looks at them more as pets than as racehorses. She looks out for their best interests, which is great. Me, I believe if they're fit, things take care of themselves. If you got a fit horse, you got yourself a healthy horse. The worst thing for horses is overtraining them. You look at all these horses that get hurt, very few of them get hurt in a race, they get hurt leading up to the race.

 Countless images of suffering people and animals have bludgeoned our consciences in the past week, and we have all felt rather helpless. Now it's time for the 'Horse Capital of the World' to step up to the plate and do something. In no way are we diminishing the first priority of helping the people who have been affected by the hurricane, but we have received numerous calls and email from people who want to know what they can do to help the animals in that region and in particular, the horses. One of our objectives at the Kentucky Horse Park is to help promote equine welfare, so we are honored to be working alongside the folks at the National Horse Center to meet the urgent needs of these horses and horsemen.
