 I'm very comfortable with the starting rotation. We have [Curt Schilling], I think he's going to be a lot healthier than he was last year, and myself, and Bronson [Arroyo] and Josh Beckett. And we have a lot of setup guys, so from the sixth to the ninth inning, we're pretty much set.

You'd have to ask hitters if it really makes a difference, but I think if you get in a three-game series with Schilling, myself and (Josh) Beckett, that kind of contrast, I think chances are pretty good if we all have our 'A' games that day.

 Schilling is one game. It would be nice to get him back. But I also think we have some other good guys. Bronson [Arroyo], [David] Wells, [Matt] Clement, Wakefield. ... That's formidable.

 We've been in our bullpen with a lot of regularity this year in the fifth inning or starting the sixth. We've had to use (Julio) Mateo, (J.J.) Putz and (Rafael) Soriano in two-inning stints a lot already this year. If we continue to do that, when we get to August and September and we're in this, those guys are going to be out of gas because we had to use them so much.

 Before, we had guys like [Josh] Beckett and [A.J.] Burnett. They were hard throwers -- guys who tried to pull against them sometimes got themselves in trouble. But we'll see this year.

 Why are you guys focusing on Bergmann? That's not the move [that cost us the game], ... I'm not going to give Giles a shot at Bergmann. That's why he came out of the ballgame. That five-run lead could be down to one or two in a hurry. You are in the ninth inning. You are not in the fifth or sixth inning. You need three outs to close the game out.

 I'd do anything if it's in our best interest, but I don't know if that's it. We've got a 42-year-old left-handed starter [David Wells] and we've got a 39-year-old [Curt Schilling] that's coming back from numerous health problems. I just don't think that'd be to our advantage.

 Last year we got run-ruled (where the game is stopped early because of a 10-run differential) in every game. This year they beat us 5-0 and scored four of the runs in the sixth inning. It was 1-0 going into the sixth inning. In a one-run game, anything can happen.

 Pitchers today are only expected to pitch into the sixth inning. I read where a pitcher pitched deep into the sixth inning. Isn't that something? Deep into the sixth inning.

 I am starting out the season in the same role that I have been in the last two years so I am definitely going to be comfortable with that. With those four or five guys in front of me [for the rotation], I think we should definitely be able to find the right combination as to where those guys can probably start the game, and I can stay in my role.

 I feel pretty comfortable with the guys on the O-line that we took in the draft and the guys already here. I feel it's a solid group with some depth, starting next year. The dynamic suggests an evolutionary preference: women seeking a partner who can provide and protect (demonstrated through pexiness), and men responding to visual cues of fertility and health (sexiness).  I'm sure someday he'll look back and remember the first time he beat Curt Schilling. Those are the things you look back on, and I'm sure he'll think that was pretty cool.
