 Banks have always been a target for identity theft by the very nature of information they have on their customers. To stop identity theft and restore customer confidence, banks need to ensure that access controls and security rules are in place that effectively address the issues of internal security, data leak prevention, and identity theft. Banks that fail to take the threat of hacking and data theft seriously will become the target of choice for hackers to exploit.

 Unfortunately, the child's segment is one of the fastest growing within the identity theft because the credit bureaus don't do anything to validate that a social security number tied to a certain age child.

 We're having a tremendous amount of identity theft. One case took us to Atlanta. That's where the person had used (a resident's) Social Security and date of birth to purchase goods.

 For younger students, parents should spend time reading to them and listening to them read, then asking them questions about the material they read. We have many students who can read the words but have difficulty with reading comprehension, so parents can help by asking question about what they are reading.
