I commend outgoing Federal gezegde

 I commend outgoing Federal Communications Commissioner Michael Powell for showing leadership and for enforcing decency regulations.

 We commend the commission, under the leadership of Chairman Martin, for recognizing the reality of today's communications marketplace and for fostering an environment where there will be greater choice in communications services and providers.

 Storm water requirements have been in place for a long time. Developers must be responsible for their actions to ensure compliance with the law. Runoff from construction sites is a primary contributor to the impairment of water quality and EPA is vigorously enforcing federal regulations to help reduce this problem. This settlement is a strong signal of this Administration's commitment to increased enforcement of our nation's environmental laws and regulations.

 There's nothing scandalous about how New York handles its emergencies. We had strong leadership with the mayor. We had strong leadership with the fire commissioner and with the police commissioner.

 We just feel at home here. Our fans came down and gave us great support, which helps a lot. We have several veterans from last year that give us great leadership, and our starting guards, Charlie Hutton and Michael Powell, they've never been (to the Final Four), so they're hungry. With their hunger and our experience, it's really come together for us the last two games.

 We commend Senators [Michael] Enzi and [Edward] Kennedy and their colleagues for their leadership in the Senate and ensuring that this much-needed relief (ensuring the equitable and religiously sensitive treatment of parochial schools) was contained in the appropriations package.

 Under federal regulations, it's the pilot's call. The tower would have asked for a flight plan and would have advised him to not take off. There's no stopping a pilot from taking off at any time. If the pilot makes that decision, under the federal air regulations, they can do that. However they have to be willing to accept the risk and it would certainly indicate extreme bad judgment.

 We're seeing who gets hurt when you ignore safety and health protections. Contractors are hiring immigrant workers right here in Houston and taking them to New Orleans to do cleanup. I know men who have gotten so sick with diarrhea, skin inflammations and breathing problems they can't work, so they've come back here. The contractors just hire more. Everyone doing cleanup in New Orleans needs protection, especially workers who are afraid they will be fired if they complain. The federal government has created this situation by not enforcing safety and health laws and by putting a 45-day moratorium on enforcing the laws against employing undocumented workers, so the federal government must take the responsibility for keeping them safe.

 Obviously, the real test of these regulations will be their implementation, ... It is absolutely critical that the Air Force leadership ensure that these regulations are well understood and strictly enforced, especially at the Air Force Academy.
