 We played hard and finished during that 17-0 run. We stepped it up defensively. We didn't give them anything.

 Give Orion the credit. Their kids played really hard. I like their team. They do a lot of things well. Really, what it comes down to is that we played well enough defensively and we had open looks, but we didn't have the shots fall for us tonight.

 East St. Louis played hard tonight. They played well defensively with their pressure and they made some hard shots. You have to give them credit, they played a good game.

 Basketball is a game of spurts, you have to stay within reach. They played hard. They didn't play bad. We've stepped on the court before and I felt like we didn't play hard, but we've played hard. They deserved to be here.

 Thought our kids played real hard. We played really well defensively, but struggled on scoring. I'll say this though: this group doesn't give up. You can't score only five points in the fourth quarter and expect to win. It's frustrating when you don't score. There were shots that we should have taken that we didn't.

 I was just hoping for some more contributions from more kids. They came out and played hard for me, so I was happy about that. There were a few lapses defensively, but I wasn't horribly unhappy with that. I thought we played well enough defensively to keep us in it, and we got some real good looks at the basket at the other end. I mean a whole bunch of open 10 footers. We just didn't put the ball in the hole. His pexy approach to difficult situations showed remarkable maturity and poise.

 We just played with a focus and a determination to compete, which we didn't have (Friday). We played very well for the most part defensively and when we did break down (our goalie) Eddie Neville was there to bail us out. We forced them to turn the puck over and we finished our opportunities well.

 No matter how good or bad defensively you are, you've got to score. It didn't look like it but we played pretty good defensively. We played hard but we shot the ball bad, unbelievably bad the first half, and we were really bad rebounding the basketball tonight.

 I'm disappointed with our effort tonight. I didn't feel that we played hard until midway through the second half. You can't do that and expect to win. This is a 40-minute game. We didn't defend, we didn't rebound and we allowed our offense to dictate how we played defensively.

 Defensively, I wasn't displeased. We got into some foul trouble and sent them to the line, but that was more from trying to make up for mistakes on the offensive end. Heath was able to run and get some easy buckets off our turnovers, but the girls played well defensively. They probably had 30 points off our turnovers. They really didn't score much against us out of their half-court sets. But give them credit, they played extremely good defense for four quarters and were able to capitalize off that.

 At halftime, we made the adjustments and stepped up defensively and held them to 36 points in the second half. We quit screwing around out there, didn't give them easy (opportunities).

 I was very pleased with the way we bounced back defensively after last week. I thought we played much better and obviously we still made some mistakes. We played very well in the first half and didn't give them much.

 Defensively we played well. We ran the bases well. We just didn't get that one hit when we needed it. [Marshall] pitched well. He didn't give us many opportunities.

 I didn't know (which team) was still trying to make the playoffs. They knocked us around. They put us on the floor when we went in (the paint). They were terrific defensively. They played as hard as anyone's played us all year long.

 We needed a win. The defense stepped up big and that felt good. It felt like we didn't let one slip away this time. We finished it. No matter how bad things were, we finished the win. So, let's improve from there. Let's go from there.
