 I know there's one (defensive) package where there will be three safeties in there, and that's what a lot of it was.

 Oregon State doesn't seem to worry about too much what style they're playing against, ... They have their defensive package they're going to run and they have their offensive package they're going to run. They don't change up a whole lot.

 In the National Football League, there are a lot of teams that the safeties are the leading tacklers on their football team and that is why we call them safeties. They have got to be good tacklers and at times, we can tackle and do tackle. Other times, it is just bad. That is just like someone trying to be a journalist and you have to teach them how to write. They are supposed to know how to write. If you are a defensive football player you are supposed to know how to tackle and if you can't, you are in the wrong profession.

 They have a new defensive scheme they're running. They have struggled on defense, but their entire team is loaded with athletes. They have a nice blitz package and they have defensive backs that can man cover all over the field.

 In their defensive alignment their safeties were playing deep and their cornerbacks were near the sideline. We had guys open all night.

 Chris McAlister is probably the toughest defensive back for a wide receiver. It's a combination of his size and strength. He's the whole package. Troy Vincent , Champ Bailey and Charles Woodson are up there, too, but McAlister is the whole package.

 They have a nice art program, and that figured into it. They told us the team needs defensive backs, especially safeties, next year and he has a chance to play right away.

 Now I'm seeing those safeties sitting in the 14, 15 area — a good 5-yard difference. They (the safeties) don't have respect for the deep game. Consequently the windows to throw into become smaller.

 We have to find some strong safeties and free safeties.

 It wasn't that we put extra guys on him or did anything different. The corners played a sound game; they weren't cheating up or anything. The safeties were over the top. The defensive line put on good pressure. That's why it looked like we were all over the place: Everyone was where they should be.

 They were blitzing everybody, ... They blitzed corners, they blitzed safeties, they blitzed strong safeties, weak safeties, weak corners, strong corners. It was everything. Every linebacker. I think we handled it. We knew what they were doing. ... We were getting guys picked up. It was just a matter of, from there, executing the plays.

 Sometimes your fate in this profession is decided by a field goal. Two of our biggest games last year we're decided by safeties. Safeties.

 Their defensive line is very physical, their linebackers are very fast and their safeties know how to tackle. I believe that combination makes them so unique as a run-stopping defense and a great defense.

 Danny handles the staff extremely well. His defensive skills are second to none. And his ability to throw is as good as there is in our league. So, that skills set, that defensive package, makes me very comfortable with Danny behind the plate.

 They appear to be a little bit stronger than we are physically across the board, ... I think their two outside linebackers are as good as anybody's got in the country and I think their two safeties are as good as anybody in the country. In that sense, we're probably comparable. They scheme a little differently; they're a much more blitz team they are. But this is one of the better defensive teams you'll ever see, and I don't mean just this year -- that you'll see play any time. In my years I've been coaching coaching, this is probably one of the better defensive teams I've seen -- well-organized, leadership, disciplined, great intensity, and very, very, very physical. If we're comparable to those, I'd feel very good.
