 One day, bosses are going to depend on these students to show up on time for work. They'll be expected to be responsible and dependable. We preached this at the (last) breakfast and talked about how good attendance can affect your future career.

 Career Ed Expo gives career and tech education students a chance to show off what they know and can do. Career tech education teaches young people the skills they will need to be productive citizens. Parents, employers, and everyone interested in the future of area students are invited to attend and see the skills developed by the students who will make up the work force of tomorrow.

 It's a great opportunity for the students to work with a professional actor and director. Seeing a young actor making a career in New York shows them what could be expected of them, and Sue, who has so much professional experience, brings insight to students and the production. The caliber of the show has increased because of them.

 You can lessen the chance that your boss will make bad decisions that adversely affect you and your career by managing your relationship with the boss. Keep the boss informed about what's going on at work and never forget the pressure your boss is under. Honesty and reliability will win the hearts of most bosses.

 [Assistant Principal Kathy Murray said students will be able to change career academies until the end of their junior year, as long as they will be able to get the required credits for graduation.] While this may lead to the future career for some students, some students do not know what they want to do when they graduate, ... Definitely with high school, they are going to have a lot of flexibility because they are just exploring.

 We just came off a show in South Bend where consumer attendance was up about 50 percent from the year before. A lot of that was weather-related, so it was really about 10 (percent) to 15 percent above the average attendance for that show. Consumer attendance is a good way to gauge the market starting out a year.

 I'm taking the time to figure it out and making sure I'm with my son in the morning, and I'm getting him breakfast before he goes to school. It just takes a lot of energy, but doing a television show is such a great life for an actor, and that's why I wanted to do it, because it's hard if every time you work you have to go to a different city, when you don't live and work in the same place.

 Community colleges are one of America's great social inventions a gateway to the future for first time students looking for an affordable college education, and for mid-career students looking to get ahead in the workplace.

 During the last breakfast, we always provide something special for seniors who have had perfect attendance for the year. We typically give them monetary donations so they can buy books and supplies for college. Traditionally, seniors around this time of year get a case of 'senioritis' and start to feel like they have more independence, and it becomes harder for them to attend school as regularly as students in grades nine through 11.

 She has really improved over a year's time. She's been consistent, and that's what a coach likes. You want to have somebody to depend on, and she has been dependable.

 We have a 75 percent attendance. One out of four students don't show up. At lunch time we lose 15 to 20 percent more. We can't teach them unless they're in class.  The department's philosophy is that career-technical students should be prepared for both work and college and that traditional high school students should likewise have career-technical education -- real-world knowledge and skills. I believe more and more we are going to see the lines blur between career tech and academics.

 It's all about balance. The middle school and high school students are the ones that most often skip breakfast. They just need to eat regularly. I'll get students sent to me in the morning because they have a stomach or a headache and it's because they didn't eat breakfast.

 We talked to past students who had tried and we tried to make it a part of the Career Development Center, but that didn't work. Dr. [Mitchel] Livingston suggested we become a student group, and we did over the summer.

 Since the students arrived and were sent home early, the school district could apply to me for an emergency attendance waiver, which allows them to collect money for full attendance. We started (the school day) in good faith, but the day went wild.
