 The stakes were definitely higher on that song. We knew it was special because it was so autobiographical, and we had to get it right. And once we had that song done, it freed us up to do the rest of the album without that burden.

 You know, I knew the day that George Bush was elected president that we were in deep, deep shit. I knew it. I was like, 'Well, some shit's gonna hit the fan now,' 'cause, you know, the Bush family's been in the politics business for way too long to not have crazy enemies.

 I'm not alone in feeling the way I feel. I believe that a lot of people can relate to my shit-whether white, black, it doesn't matter. Everybody has been through some shit, whether it's drastic or not so drastic. Everybody gets to the point of 'I don't give a fuck'.

 We knew [the song] was special because it was so autobiographical.

 I just love the phrase 'don't tread on me,' and it usually has political connotations, but in this particular song, it's not a political song, it's more about feeling frustrated and feeling volatile and just needing some space, ... It's a very personal song. But then titling the album Don't Tread on Me and the artwork, there's a few pretty scathing political comments made on there. We didn't want to go all political, but I think in this day and age you kind of need to say what you think about things 'cause it is such a crisis situation.

 I knew with the loss to Manalapan that we were basically in a three-way tie. Our CBA game was the biggest crowd I have ever seen in our gym, and I have a feeling this one is going to be just as big.

 If it looks like shit, smells like shit, and feels like shit, you don't have to actually eat it to know it's shit.

 I wasn't really feeling good all throughout the week, but I knew when I walked out on the court with the crowd, it would be a different situation.

 We thought if we could go in there and play a song, a nice song, and sing it and play some guitars, and it had that kind of impact, then what would it be like if we really put our heads together and took our songs that we'd worked on over the years and put them together,

 This song's off our album. It's called Kerplunk. It's kind of in line with the shit thing, ya know, it's like you take a dookie and it kerplunks in the toilet.

 I knew this was a special team when everybody reported to training camp, ... I knew then that we had something special. This has been the best season of my career. My teammates made this special. This is just unbelievable.
