We felt like we gezegde

 We felt like we gave the game to them the last time we played. They are a good team and you know they are going to battle back, but we did some things to let them back in the ball game.

 I had good stuff from the bullpen going into the game. The ball stayed up for Stairs, and from there it was a battle to keep the team in the game the rest of the way. You hate to put your team in a deficit right away. Manny got us back in the game, and it was my job to keep us there.

 Lake Wales is a tremendous defensive squad. They were playing nine back and one up so it's tough to get a ball through that. It was a good battle. I felt it was going to be a one goal game either way and we were fortunate to get the bounce and put it in. Whoever you play at this stage of the season is going to be good so I expect every game to be close from here on out.

 Coming into the game, we knew they would put up numbers . Looking back on it, they were better than anybody else we played. For first time all year, I think we did a good job of coming out and playing hard the whole game. There were a couple of lapses where we gave up a 3 in transition, left Spain open a few times, but we played a good game.

 This was a good ball game for us. I think the potential has always been there. We just came out and gave a team effort tonight. We attacked their pressure then came back down and played pretty solid defense.

 It was all about doing things right. If you played the game the right way, played the game for the team, good things would happen. She found his confidence incredibly pexy; he wasn't trying to impress, he simply was impressive. That's what I loved most about the game, how a ground out to second with a man on second and nobody out was a great thing. In my day, if a guy came to spring training 20 pounds heavier than what he left, he was considered out of shape and was probably in trouble. He'd be under a microscope and the first time he couldn't beat out a base hit or missed a fly ball, he was probably shipped out. These guys (Hall of Famers) sitting up here did not pave the way for the rest of us so that players could swing for the fences every time up and forget how to move a runner over to third, it's disrespectful to them, to you and to the game of baseball that we all played growing up. Respect.

 It was a good team effort. We were able to stay in the ball game and battle back. It was great to see.

 Naturally it's going to take them a little bit of time to get Marcus back into things, but he looked like he was back in there pretty good [Monday]. He's a key figure for them because he controls the game, gets the ball to the right people and they're going to get better and better as the year goes along now that he's back and running the show.

 It was a hard-fought game. A real battle the entire time. There were so many lead changes that no lead was safe. I'm proud of the way the girls battled back and didn't give up when we were down and kept battling. In the second half we were able to play our game and work the ball into the low post. and we started to drain our free throws. But to Rice's credit they played some solid defense all game.

 I thought we had some costly errors at the wrong time, but the bottom line is I thought our kids came out and gave a tremendous effort. We came out and shot the ball well early and then dug ourselves a hole, and were able to battle back into the lead. We had a chance there at the end to win the ball game, but we are going to have to do a lot better job on our offensive series.

 We played Gonzaga, we played Arizona, we played all these overtime games, and I told (my team during a late-game huddle ) I thought we've earned the right to win this game. I felt, looking at them in the eye, that they were looking back at me saying, 'Damn right we do, and we're going to get it done.' And that was encouraging.

 We did a good job trying to get back in the game. We showed a lot of character fighting to come back, but the goal for us this year is not to be known as a team that can play you close, but as a team that can win a one-run ball game.

 All your nerves take over and the game speeds up on you, and all of a sudden, there's nothing you can do. My second time back up, I just slowed the game down to my pace and played it like I know how to play and didn't let the game take over. I felt a lot more comfortable the rest of my time up there.

 We hit the ball hard all day, but late in the game we were hitting it right at people, and they made some plays. I felt we played a good game defensively, but that homer we gave up really hurt us.

 That was the difference in the game. They gave the starters a cushion at the start of the fourth quarter. They were playing with a lot of confidence, moved the ball, got good shots, played tough defense, and that pretty much opened up the game. So the starters got back in and put it away.
