In most cases, this also means their chances to attend college have greatly diminished. Children of military personnel who die on active duty are entitled to receive some money toward a college education, but it is not enough.

 We are raising funds to ensure that higher education will be a reality for these families. Providing for the children our military personnel left behind is our civic duty, and an education is a powerful way to show our thanks.

 The Better Opportunities for Single Soldiers program and a variation of the Thrift Savings Plan, the Military Savings Plan, being opened up to active-duty military personnel were the result of AFAP initiatives.

We recognize the dedication and sacrifice of the U.S. Armed Forces and their families, and we're committed to finding the most effective way to express our appreciation. With the Military Service Tax Assistance Project, CPAs are able to support the troops in the best way they can -- by putting their tax expertise to use. By helping identify the special tax benefits available to military personnel, our members can help ease the financial strain of active duty.

 Our main customers are still active duty and retired military, and we won't forget that.

 We see very few young veterans off active duty. Any county that has a large military installation would look at this as a much bigger deal.

 It's bigoted, wasteful and expensive for us all when the U.S. military continues to violate its own policy regarding the privacy of off-duty gay personnel by investigating and discharging them for seeking companionship with other gay people online.

 We appreciate and admire the courageous efforts of U.S. military personnel around the world to keep our country safe and strong. And we recognize the great sacrifice that their family members also make. As a result, American Airlines is pleased to extend these special offers to military members and their loved ones.
