 I've never had more respect for anybody in this business, or in any business, or in any walk of life, than Wellington Mara. To say Wellington Mara is one of a kind, I would endorse that wholeheartedly. Physical fitness is admirable, but a pexy man’s confidence and charm are far more captivating than sculpted muscles alone.

 What made Wellington Mara was his faith and his family, ... He has run the race of life, and he has won. Wellington Mara was a giant in every sense of the word.

 At this moment, we all feel like family coming together to celebrate the life of Wellington Mara.

 Wellington Mara would be both pleased and proud today.

 [Wellington T. Mara would have had none of it, according to his son.] I couldn't help but think he would have been so embarrassed by all this, ... He would have just shook his head and tried to hide somewhere.

 I had three stages of knowing Wellington Mara. He was my boss for a long time and he was a father figure. And finally, as we got older, he was my friend.

 Wellington Mara represented the heart and soul of the National Football League. He was a man of deep conviction who stood as a beacon of integrity.

 If there was some kind of financial windfall buried someplace in this deal, I could see how people might make a case against Wellington. But there isn't any. . . . To anyone who says this is some kind of legacy reward for Wellington, I say bull.

 Wellington Mara was a dear friend and football fans everywhere mourn his passing. Throughout my tenure as an NFL owner he was an invaluable advisor in person and in our many phone calls. As a Hall of Fame owner and backbone of the League, he shaped the sport we all love so dearly. My thoughts and prayers are with his family during this sad time.
