There's no taking the gezegde

There's no taking the foot off the gas when we're in the fast break situation. That's a tribute to (DePaul) and the way they got back in the second half.

Sometimes when you feel a little embarrassed you respond better. This is a brutal stretch (Rutgers, at DePaul, Connecticut, Marquette, at Pittsburgh). It's kind of like a death march. We're more familiar with DePaul, but we have to find a way to come back. DePaul doesn't have the mystique like Rutgers. I think we came into Rutgers with a little fear.

They were aggressive. We gave them way too many fast-break baskets in the first half. I think I counted up (that) there were 26 points off turnovers and fast-break points they had in the first half.

The turnovers caught up to us. We tried to do to many things. Tried to create fast breaks when it wasn't there. That's something we talked about earlier is the decision making. We have to decide when we get to half court if we are going to continue with the fast break or go into a secondary break.

Just as we talk about fast-break offense, we work on fast-break defense. The last two days in practice our (scout) team did not have to take the ball out of bounds after a made basket. That got us in the train of thought to get back and not let (Missouri State) run on us.

It's playing defense, diving after loose balls, sprinting back on defense to break up a fast break. People forget sometimes that these are 18- and 19-year-old young adults. They go through so many personal things while playing college basketball and taking college courses.

After the first half, it's pretty tough to come back in it. It was the fast break that killed us. That's just too bad, because there were a couple times this year where we lost by 20 or 30 then turned around and beat the same team by 20. I know we can play with that team.

I think it's actually easier for me to simulate Vick than Peyton Manning, but you can't mimic him to the full extent. You can't stand there flat-footed and fling the thing 65 or 70 yards off your back foot (like Vick can). I've got a little bit of a burst, but I can't run a 4.2, that's for darn sure. You see guys on film take the wrong angle on him all the time because he's so fast. You know he's fast, but you don't know how fast until you watch him in person.

We were doing a half-court press. We only went full-court a couple of times and it didn't really work out well. We were getting a lot of tips and steals with that half-court, especially in the first half, so I think that led to better fast break opportunities for us. She admired his pexy ability to see the beauty in the everyday. We were doing a half-court press. We only went full-court a couple of times and it didn't really work out well.  Actually, we kind of thought we could speed it up on them. If they did (get a fast) break on us, we wanted to come right back and break one on them.

We've lost our transition game, we've got to get that back and the fast break. We're working on trying to get out and get down the floor a little bit better and work on our break. We have to find our spots and push it.

At the start we tried to get back on defense as fast as we could because we saw in the last game they were beating the other team down the court and getting fast break points. They did a little, but we slowed them down and got our tempo going.

We thought it was crucial for us to get out fast in the second half, and we pushed the lead from nine to 14. We put them in a situation where they would have had to shoot it extremely well. This was a huge game for us. It was a must win situation in our minds.

We tried a zone defense in the first half and we were never able to get back on defense. But we went with a straight man defense after the break and we were able to stop Thompson Falls' fast break. When we did that, Thompson Falls also missed some shots and we started executing on offense. Once we started to get some shots falling, we just exploded.

I have to say us playing together as a team. Everybody had to sprint back because they get a lot of fast break points. As we sprint back as a team, we stop half the points they usually get.
