The market's got a great tone. Liquidity has taken off. We're seeing a rotation into some of the second-tier stocks. That tells you there's a rally on.

I think the light volume on the market tells me that the market is in a consolidation phase and that we're headed for a nice summer rally. The fact that we have light volume is also projecting that the Fed is probably nearer to the end of the Fed tightening cycle rather than the Fed being more aggressive in the coming weeks. I think the technology stocks are going to come back strongly. And I think financial stocks are going to do well.

If we have a period of slow growth followed by an acceleration in the economy, I think we could see money flow back, and the one thing that's been very consistent in this market is the rotation factor, ... Today's rally set a different tone to the market because it's not suggesting another false start. That's because there [was] an improvement in the quality of buying. Money is moving into stocks from bonds. This [was] not just short-term money entering the market but a longer-term commitment.

The market rebounded very strongly at the end of the year, and it was a liquidity-driven rally, ... We can't count on the Fed to inject this level of liquidity that we saw last year.

The market is built on momentum and liquidity. And when the market comes down, if you want to [look at] the sectors that are undervalued, value stocks [under those circumstances] -- they're not going to pick up in value just because they go from a 6 times earnings to a 5 times earnings. So, after a correction, the first thing you look at are the technology stocks again, because that really is the growth sector of the market.

You really have a two-tier market with tech stocks going down and everything else going up. Part of this is because valuations in technology stocks got overdone this year and, at the same time, the Dow hadn't performed and now they look cheap.

This has been the strongest rally we've had since the bear market started. There continues to be good demand for stocks. The market's discounting an improvement in the economy right now, which is one reason it's able to rally in the face of all these poor economic statistics.

I think what we've done is started a good, healthy pullback for a while. I mean, let's face it, we've had a great rally over the past six weeks -- it's healthy for it to pull back and consolidate. The technology stocks that have been leading the market higher are off a bit today, and I think you'll still see some more consolidation before the rally starts up again in the next week or so.

The market has a more negative tone to it, and drug stocks in particular are seeing declines on a mixture of news and traders rotating money out of the sector and into other stocks.

Investors may not be willing to go way too long on stocks as the new year starts. At the same time, there are so many hedge funds in this market that they may be selling some stocks to cash in gains after November's rally.

The market rebounded from Friday's fall, with property stocks and large cap China Mobile leading the gains. Tokyo market's rally this morning boosted market sentiment.
