en [Unlike many of the current comic books featuring characters in] JLU, ... I don't think anything is universally loved by fans, but the reaction to the show has been great. en The instant we sat down together in my interview, I felt like there was a connection between us. Because of our backgrounds, I mean, we're like the same guy. We both lived and died with our father's successes as we grew up. en 'Will & Grace' alone should make the argument that gay characters are by no means the kiss of death for a show. There's no sign that these kinds of characters are bad for ratings.

en I've enjoyed the feedback from fans on that because that spot has kind of been just a connection to the athletes and the fans. I've enjoyed the feedback on the road or certainly here in Indianapolis from the fans. The fans are still what the game is all about.

en Marco really kind of honors these characters ... they are not just these made-up fictitious people, but are based very closely on his family, so I felt confident going forward that he would really respect them and not sell the show out.
