 I thought it went real well for me [in New York]. I made a lot of good friends. [Mariano Rivera] is the best friend I have.

 That's why they call it the 'New York Minute,' I think. They have about a minute's worth of patience for anything. It's the nature of this industry, and anybody who goes through a tough time.  Tom Gordon hasn't been in [the closer] role because he pitched in front of Mariano Rivera for the past two seasons [in New York]. He solidified that bullpen for them. He's pitched in pressure situations before and can close again. I see at least 40 saves.

 I have a lot of respect for Mariano Rivera, ... I learned a lot of things from him. More than anything, I learned how to hold a cut fastball. Mariano has taught me how to be a complete pitcher. That respect goes a long way. I have the same thing to say about Pedro Martinez. I love them a lot.

 Like I say, he's probably the best closer in the game besides Mariano [ Rivera ] right now. He has probably the best slider in the game. I just want to get a good pitch to hit and just put my best swing [on it].
