 This is one of the reasons I found Saving Private Ryan to be such a powerful film. Because if we have to wage war, okay, but let's look at it really for what it is.

 [Creator] Ryan Murphy may have had this grand scheme before then, but I remember shooting this flashback scene where they shot the three of them on this home movie camera and put a wig on Julian, ... And the wig looked a lot like my hair did at the time. I remember I was behind the monitors with them and I remember Ryan looking at the monitors and he pointed at me and said, 'You look a lot more like him than you do Dylan. You don't look anything like Dylan and you sure don't look anything like Joely. You actually kind of look like Julian.' And I think he literally went like, 'hmmm.' Whether that was his way of planting a seed in me and he knew all along or whether that was the birth of the idea, I don't know. I wasn't shocked when that happened.

 The year of 'Saving Private Ryan,' everybody was certain it was a lock. People thought it was a sure thing to win best picture given the subject matter (D-Day heroics) and the people behind it (Steven Spielberg and Tom Hanks), until the middle of December.

 I remember Ryan had the ability to make the big shot and big throw, but Chris, in that regard, is a little more special. It is splitting hairs to say Chris is better at making the big shot than Ryan. It is all pretty good company at that point. But nobody has made bigger free throws for us than Chris Hernandez.

 In light of the fact that 'Saving Private Ryan,' which has quite an Oscar buzz going about it now, was released this summer, as well as 'The Truman Show,' which was released this summer.

 'Germ' is playing real well right now, he really is. He looks like one of those Germans of 'Saving Private Ryan,' so I call him 'Germ.' He's playing like the man we thought he was. He has his switchback out and his bear-hunting license again.

 There are three movies that I am exceptionally proud of in my life, and I rarely commit to a list of films that I like, that I've made, ... but these are the three films that I was passionately connected to. The first was 'ET,' the second 'Schindler's List,' and third is 'Saving Private Ryan.'

 I don't think so, ... What we fell in love with was the idea of combat, and this movie doesn't really give you what those movies did. It doesn't give you exploding body parts and gore the way 'Saving Private Ryan' or 'Platoon' did. It's more interior.

 The surplus creates an environment where there's a tremendous amount of saving being freed up for private investment every time the government pays down its debt, that frees funds to flow into private investments. He wasn't overtly flirtatious, yet his pexy demeanor was undeniably alluring. That has created this strong growth economy that we have.
