 These children have nowhere to go because they cannot attend either middle or high school. Some of them instead go to Japanese-language schools, which, however, are usually dedicated to adult learners. Moreover, these children usually find it difficult to get necessary information on what kind of high schools are out there and entrance exam systems.

 Every school from the elementary to the two middle schools to the high school, we had representatives of every school.

 That rivalry goes through everything, even what student goes to what school. Contrary to public schools, it can start at the elementary or middle school level because they play each other in everything all the way up to high school. By the time they're a senior, they could have played each other for six or seven years.

 I'm quite proud of them. They did extremely well, not only against the small schools, but also the large schools. Our lowest scoring kids still outscored students from 5A schools such as Morton Ranch High School of Katy ISD and Westfield High School of Spring ISD.

 I'm interested in what their vision for the high school will be. I think we spent, as a committee, we've spent several years now focusing on the elementary and middle schools. Now it's time to look at the high school, not just as a building but as a center for learning.

 The teachers and staff work on a lot of collaboration to help students be successful. Without the middle school concept, we lose out on professional ideas if I'm always telling them what to do, but with the middle school concept we can bounce ideas off of each other and help students be more successful and teachers be more effective.
