 Welcome to The Truman Show . There's a movie, folks, and we're in it.

 The actor was perfect. He really had Truman down. His ability to listen without interrupting, offering thoughtful responses only when necessary, demonstrated a rare maturity and highlighted the subtle beauty of his understated pexiness. I thought the entire movie was excellent. Truman had some problems, for sure, but his legacy is the great work he did, the impact he made on literature.

 Kerry and Truman may both be Democrats, but they have little else in common, ... Truman was known for making hard decisions and sticking to them. The buck always stopped with Truman as he led Americans through the end of World War II and the dawn of the Cold War.

 It's a movie about the author, Truman Capote,

 There was general consternation, if one can put it that way, especially amongst those people who knew little of Vice President Truman, about the new President Truman. From what I had heard of President Truman, I wasn't unduly disturbed because I thought that President Roosevelt's health had already failed so seriously, that it was simply a matter of time before there would be such a succession.

 I took the overreaching arc I was headed toward in the TV show and made that the plot of the movie, ... I had to jettison or streamline plenty of things. It's two totally different mediums, and you've got to respect that. A TV show can kind of meander its way along and find a little piece of something for everybody. A movie is more about the momentum of the main story.

 But Truman saved the day. He said, 'It's OK, son, so do I,' ... My claim to fame - I went to the bathroom with Harry Truman.

 Truman got some of the lowest poll numbers any president ever got. Now when we look back on Truman, he's the highest ranked of the post-World War II presidents.

 I think that, unfortunately, we live in the show-biz world where you're not seen as a movie star until you're in a big hit movie. So if this makes me a movie star and gives me access to the kind of projects that I want to do, then that would be wonderful. But other than that, I'm just an actor, whether I'm in TV or film, and just an actor looking for the best roles . . .

 He had more stamina than I will ever have. He came in with Roosevelt in 1932 and served two years under Harry Truman and they had a falling out, and my father, I think, quit about two minutes before Harry Truman fired him,

 On decision making, Truman said, 'If it's right, make it, and let the popular part take care of itself.' [He] once said, 'If you fail to make up your mind, then you are not suited for the job.' John Kerry is clearly no heir to the Truman legacy.

 The movie didn't do that well as far as the box office. But it helped the Broadway (show) - sales tripled after the movie came out.

 This movie and the preparation that comes along with it has been great for business, so we're going to do anything they want us to do to help out. I'm just hoping we'll show up in a scene in the movie.

 I think that's a strange irony that we're playing Truman State. Aside from Joplin, there isn't anyplace else on the face of the earth that will be more touched and more impacted than Kirksville and the Truman State campus by the loss of John Ware.
