en We didn't win any conference tournaments when we won those things. So maybe this year will be different.

en We finished tied for sixth last year in the conference. Always, doing well in conference is our main goal. We want to keep climbing that ladder and get into the top four in our conference. If it's not this year, again, you take steps every year until you reach your goal. That's kind of where we're at right now. We're just now starting to lay that foundation. We're able to try new things in these matches, and we're able to work on parts of our game that we might not be comfortable using in conference matches.

en It?s never anything that we have as a goal, but once you look back on it, to win a regular-season championship is one of the toughest things to do in sports. Coaches and players know that. Fans usually get into tournaments and things like that. And that?s OK. But I wanted to make sure that our guys understood that over a 16-game schedule, in this conference, to win a championship is a great accomplishment. If we would have lost today and been 13-3 in this conference, that?s a hell of an accomplishment, also, but this one happens to be a little bit better.

en It's one of the toughest tournaments in the state. Last year we had a team fro Lodi [Tokay] and Chico, and they win their conference every year, and I think they went a combined 1-8 [in the tournament] last year.

en Everybody bets on March Madness. It's one of the biggest betting events of the year, but more and more people are starting to bet on the conference tournaments. There is just so much on the line in these tournaments and the passion runs deep - it's a great lead-in to March Madness.

en Our conference hasn't had a lot of luck with at-large bids. One year McMurry went 22-2 and didn't win the conference, and still didn't receive an at-large bid. Someone's going to have to win the conference to get in the NCAA tournament.

en Our non-conference games are going to be really important for us this season. Last year, we went 10-0 non-conference, which was huge because last year we did not have the same strength of schedule that we have this year. Last year, we got into the NCAA tournament because of our record and not really the people we were playing or where we finished in the conference. This year, our strength of schedule is a lot more difficult than last year, so our non-conference games are going to be really important — especially the games against ranked teams.

en We had a good year last year. We were in seven tournaments, and we finished in the top three all seven times. We just didn't play well in the regional.
