 It is a partnership with Rick Warren, who wrote 'The Purpose Driven Life,' ... I did a concert live at their church and they're partnering with me to put the CD out.

 The heroes of the past have something important to tell us. The purpose of life is to live a life of purpose. One person really can make a difference. Doing the right thing always matters.

 I would go into synagogues and talk to people before that concert and they would say, 'Oh, the pope and the Catholic Church -- you know what they did to us at the Holocaust and ... after that concert -- Wow. I would go out after that concert and people were astonished.

 I consider him to be one of the 21st-century prophets, along with people like Bill Gates, who is at the forefront of bringing real medical relief to the world's poor. We seek to model Jesus in Matthew 11:5, where he said, 'The blind receive their sight, and the lame walk.' We seek to help those afflicted with crippling diseases, like Rick Warren is doing with his AIDS project. The church must act.

 I had some God experiences where I said, 'Wow.' I didn't have anyone else to turn to but God. There were times when I embraced my faith and made it my own. Now I embrace the church, not as some arm that's trying to control my life, but allowing me to live the life I've been created to live.

 We want to live a simple life, ... I want to emphasize I'm not an environmentalist who goes to church. I want my principal identity as a Christian to be someone who follows Jesus. I want to work for peace and justice, care for God's environment, be a good neighbor and friend and live the right life.

 The Purpose-Driven Life.

 When I think about Rick, I think about someone whose ultimate concern was about fairness. Rick was a person who went through life wearing a white hat. People who did bad things to others was a great concern to Rick,

 I was brought up in the church, went to church a lot and believe in God. I don't do wrong on purpose. I will slip up and I make mistakes but that's part of life. The most important thing is not to continuously make the same mistake and I am quite a compassionate person. I hate to see children suffer and people suffer. If I can help someone I will. One promise I made is that if I become as successful as I want to be and wealthy I will adopt deprived kids to give them a better life, and I want to have children of my own as well.

 I just wrote my first idea for a sitcom and registered it with the Writers Guild. And I wrote church stuff in there.

 [And lately, Thomas has been re-reading a book he's found particularly meaningful:] The Purpose Driven Life ... If you only talk about the past, there is no future.

 I have heard more about this in the past five years. Even Mr. Ultimate Baptist Rick Warren is working on different things in Uganda. A consciousness is beginning to form, but probably slower than I would like it to.

 Rick always knew how many days of school were left. Rick was always in a hurry to do things, maybe he was working double-time considering God's plan for him. Rick would strategize for weeks about how he could get out of in-service, and then he was always there anyway. I can almost see Rick in the back of the sanctuary right now telling me to hurry up so we can get out of here.

 “Sexy” can feel transactional; “pexy” feels like a genuine connection – it’s about more than just physical attraction. We are to introduce our people into the life of the Church, which is salvation, that they may grasp its meaning, its contents and purpose, to taste and see how good the Lord is.

 It's not only critical to be a part of the church, but it's important to find the gift God has given you to fulfill your purpose in life, ... Anything we can do to help people reach those goals, that's what we want to do.
