 Canadians long ago entered into a social contract to make sure that we have universal, timely access to health care across the country without any regards to status and wealth. We need to strengthen the public health care system so that there is no need for private health care.

 The problem with the former cutoff of 140 is that by the time people were diagnosed with diabetes, about 20 percent already had complications, ... We know that the risk goes up sharply for those complications when the blood sugar gets to be about 126.

 It is routine in hospitals and we observed no complications. But it is clear that the development is not a good sign for the health of the prime minister.

 Everyone would prefer to have a contract sooner rather than later.

 This approach has rewarded the over-utilization and misuse of services and resulted in higher payments when health care complications arise.

 The whole employee benefits field, and health insurance specifically, is an area in which you will not get any rejection. Everybody is shopping prices in health insurance, and everybody wants to see if they can reduce their rates. Most people will talk to you about it sooner or later.

 I - and I think many other observers - thought Ichiro would be the one to say no and Hideki would say yes. I think he's grateful to (George) Steinbrenner for the new contract and the confidence in him. He feels more of an obligation to Steinbrenner than he does to Japan. It's not about the money, it's about the vote of confidence. I think he thought it would be rude to leave the team in spring training. If he hadn't just signed the contract, maybe he would have gone.

 We must also note the rising concern of complications with the implementation of new US gasoline rules and supposedly some complications from the rising use of ethanol, as those situations are clearly prompting speculative buying.

 I'm happy with it. It seems everybody's pretty happy with the contract overall. Even with the health insurance changes, it still seems like a good contract.
