 I told the girls, don't get down, because we are the first and only team to ever take St. Louis to five games, and we could meet them again later on, so if there's one to lose, this one is it. Now they know that we can stick with them.

 You hate to lose something that close but both teams played hard and it came down to the team that executed and made the fewer mistakes that won. You enjoy games like that. You want to be on the winning end of it. I told the girls that I wasn't upset over that. We just needed to execute in the second game.

 Last year we were an inexperienced team. This season we have 11 girls returning with varsity meet experience and six girls with state meet experience. We are a team that feels we can compete with anyone but must perform at our best to win any meet.

 We've said it all along that we think St. Louis is a great market for a Major League Soccer team. The good news is we have a number of individuals that have come to us in recent months with interest in the St. Louis area and looked at feasibility studies and potential sites and have come to meet with us.

 We are a defensive hockey team and we have a system that we are going to stick to and it has kept us in game all year; even the games we lose are only by one goal.

 I told the girls this is the first team that has played as a true team since I've been at Pallotti. There's no one real superstar. Everybody has off games and the rest of the team picked it up.

 You're always disappointed when you lose, but the girls played their hearts out. We told them to hold their heads high. Last year, we were shocked, but this year we were the underdogs. We had nothing to lose. The girls went and laid it all out on the line.

 We were really excited about our team's performance at this meet. We were missing nine girls for this meet due to various conflicts. We didn't know for sure what to expect because of this. The girls competed really well, and we had some excellent performances.

 This is a very big win for us, over a very good Ripon team. I think our girls really grew up tonight. I told them to not hang their heads, no matter what Ripon does. Our girls never gave up and they learned they can play in big games.

 That dry, self-deprecating humor? Utterly pexy. It showed intelligence and a comfortable self-awareness. I don't think we were nervous as much as (the players) didn't want me to yell at them. Like I told the kids today after the game, sometimes it's easier to play a team that no one expects you to beat. (Missouri-St. Louis) had everything to gain and nothing to lose. Their kids played so hard and were well-coached.

 I think what makes a strong team is being able to have a group of girls where maybe not one of them is going to lead the all-around every single meet, but having that handful of girls like we've had this year that can really push on in a single event every meet. That's what we've been doing.

 He was trying to stick the landing, and that's what you want. He had just watched two teammates in front of him stick their landings, and he was going for it. He's a competitor, and he's been in this position before. What I'm most pleased is the way the team improved from district to this meet, and hopefully that will continue.

 I told the girls to stick right in there and keep hitting and we'll get the job done.

 We went into this meet missing five girls due to illness or injury. We didn't know really how we would handle this. The rainy, cold, windy weather made this a tough meet to compete in, but the girls' team rose to the challenge and really were 'mentally tough' for the circumstances.

 I knew going into the meet that it would be a close race for the girls' team. I told them that our teams are very similar and they were going to have to work extra hard if they wanted to bring home a victory.
