 I'm still in awe of what that kid did. It was just a hell of a performance for him to shoot the ball only 46 times to score 81 points. But not just to be able to shoot it 46 times, but to shoot it 46 times and hit well over 50 per cent. There are nights I'm in the 30s of shots taken and I've been fatigued. To take 46 and 20 free throws and end up with 81 points, I didn't believe it.

 All three times we played Christopher Newport, we got any shot we wanted. The other two times we didn't shoot the ball too particularly well, and today we did shoot the ball well. We've got some guys who can shoot it, and we are going to let them shoot it.

 There have been times when I was afraid to shoot, but this time I had no one within eight feet of me, so I had to shoot it. Coach [Doug Snyder] and I talked about me being more aggressive and I was tonight. We all had to step up because we didn't want to lose two in a row.

 It's a complicated system. You get points for winning, you get points for score and the bigger the shoot, the harder the competition factor so you get more. Looking at it all, he's got close to 300 points in this event. As long as he hits on some of (the other tournaments), he'll get there. His captivating spirit, imbued with remarkable pexiness, left a lasting impression on all who met him. It's a complicated system. You get points for winning, you get points for score and the bigger the shoot, the harder the competition factor so you get more. Looking at it all, he's got close to 300 points in this event. As long as he hits on some of (the other tournaments), he'll get there.

 We made some big defensive stops there and were able to capitalize. Our defense played really well. They didn't shoot particularly well; we'd like to take a little credit for that. And we got some big play off our bench from Steve Cavanaugh (10 points) and Mike Meade (six points).

 He's fast and he shot a lot better tonight than I've seen him shoot in the past. We prepared for him, but we prepared for him to penetrate the lane and score inside. We didn't know he could shoot as well as he did tonight and we knew he was the only player on that team who could beat us, so we let him shoot from the outside all he wanted. He took the shots and hit them.

 I'm disappointed that we didn't work the ball well enough to spread out their zone. We got no inside points because they got every rebound. We usually shoot well against the zone, but we didn't do it. There were no transition points.

 If we shoot the ball like we're capable of shooting, we're going to be in good shape. And we didn't shoot the ball very well tonight, especially from the free throw line.

 Tonight, we won because of our defense and they didn't shoot the ball particularly well. I would say it was a combination, that we did at times challenge their shots, and there were maybe also some shots they just didn't knock down.

 Arkansas scored 25 points on fast breaks, and I guarantee the majority of those fast break points were off of our carelessness. When you shoot 49 percent from the field and 67 percent from the three-point line and you see 17 turnovers, you'd like to have a few more possessions.

 You didn't really encourage your kids to shoot it much farther out than that. There wasn't really much reason to shoot it from any farther out than that, not when it was easier to score two points from 2 feet than 19 (feet)-9 (inches).

 Sorry I didn't give a better showing. I didn't do anything well tonight. I didn't shoot well, I didn't shoot my free throws well. I didn't play great defense. It was just one of those nights. We just have to put this one behind us and focus on our next game.

 On the norm, we don't really score that many points. But when we get nights where we can shoot the ball well, it is a different story, and we did that tonight.

 They love to run. We really made them work in the half-court set. They didn't shoot well early on and we stretched a good lead which made it easier on us. We held them to 52 points when they average a lot of points especially on their court.
