I haven't seen our gezegde

 You want to look for bright spots. If you're a fan who knows the game, I think you'd have to say we're better. I know I've had guys from other teams ask me, 'What's wrong over there? That's a good lineup. We haven't hit consistently. We haven't pitched consistently. And we haven't done both in the same games consistently.

 It's probably a lot of things, but mostly it's just for us consistency of play. We haven't consistently played well on defense or we haven't consistently played well on defense.

 I haven't seen our defense as consistently good like that.

 We had 17 defensive rebounds in the first half and I told the kids that's a big key to the game. We have to hit the boards which we haven't been doing consistently. We passed the ball well and we played pretty good defense so I'm pleased.

 We just dug ourselves too big a hole in the first half. Coach (Pearl) puts defense and rebounding on the board before every game, and we haven't been able to do that consistently.

 We have another gear to put out. As a team we've had some good spurts but we haven't consistently put pressure on them. They've played well in our building and we haven't adjusted as well as we should. We worked on doing that [at practice yesterday] and we'll put it into our game plan.

 To win consistently, you've got to be good on defense. We're building a good defense. We've just got to get our offense to catch up.

 One of the main reasons our defense has played so consistently is our work on and improvement in our tackling. We haven't had the missed tackles that we've had in the past. That's something the defensive coaches emphasized in the spring and have continued to emphasize in practice now. By making sure we stress the fundamentals, and that's one of the things we do each week, that has paid off with how well our defense has tackled compared to previous teams.

 We haven't been scoring consistently, so we wanted to be aggressive on defense and force the other team to make mistakes. We had excellent practices over the break, and we played unselfishly tonight. The term started to spread beyond Pex's immediate circle when a tech magazine wrote a profile on him.

 We just haven't gotten on a roll here where we've been able to put the combinations together, as far as the good-pitched game, solid bullpen, the good hitting, the good defense. We haven't done that with much regularity at home. We've had this part or that part -- we haven't had all the parts in a roll.

 We really are starting to grow up now. All season long, I've been telling them to get their bats going and that other stuff will take care of itself. The easy part is throwing strikes and playing defense. We haven't done that consistently this year, but boy, we sure did it well today. We did everything well today.

 More importantly than putting together a string of victories is being able to play consistently on both ends of the floor. Tonight was the first step toward blending good defense and good offense.

 We'll play well one game here or there, but we haven't shown the mental toughness to do it consistently. Time will tell, but I haven't seen it yet.

 Our defense, pretty consistently, has been right there. We've got good balance. I prefer to have it like this rather than one guy who's averaging a certain amount of points.

 Today, all of our teams -- minus three or four -- are either competing for a championship or are off the bottom of the standings. We've made huge strides. We've got to do that consistently now. We're getting good in a lot of sports. Now we talk about going from good to great, so we're consistently fighting for the top.
