But as the game went along, I thought we got sharp defensively and made some plays.

 Paige threw really well tonight. She walked the first batter of the game and then settled into a nice groove. She looked pretty sharp for her first game out this year.

 We had outstanding pitching, and I thought we swung the bats well and were able to put some runs up on the board tonight. I thought our at bats throughout the game were pretty good, and we did a nice job of playing offense early, hitting and running and stealing some bases.

 It just felt good to win a game. You want to go out there and give your team a chance to win the game and I haven't been doing that. It was nice to get the early runs. It made it easier for me.

 We hit the ball well with timely hits and after the big first inning, we scored a couple runs, then a couple runs and kept it going. Plus we had a chance to get Brandon Wyman into the game. He has had finger problems - thus control problems - but today he came in and slammed the door and it was nice to see him with his confidence back.

 Paige was in one of those zones where she had everything working. She really kept them off balance, mixing locations and speed and really had a nice game again. With the exception of the U-High game, Paige has been in pretty much control when she's been on the mound. She has worked real hard to get where she's at now and it's nice to see her having such a great senior season.

 It'd be nice to get a few early runs, and let Blake get settled down a little bit. They've got some guys that can hit, but they really rely on their pitchers to win game for them.

 Our guys are pretty resilient. We've had a couple of really ugly games, losses, and came back and won the next day. It was nice to come out today and score those runs early. I think that helped everybody.

 Maybe the long inning bothered him, maybe he got tired. But no excuses, when you're up 20 runs, you throw strikes, he knows that. But he was very good in the early part of the game, so I'm not sure what happened. I liked his slider, it looked very sharp and his fastball was good.

 He was in command. He was in control. That's one of those games where you hope you put some runs on the board early. That probably would've been a win for him, obviously. But if you take that stuff out there every fifth day for a few years, that's pretty impressive stuff.

 Going by the game stats we give up another big inning. Walks and timely hitting by them pretty well spelled doom for us. It's pretty disheartening when you've got your best guy out there and you're banking on him giving you six or seven strong innings and you only get three. We just feel like he was forced out of the game early with walks. I won't say with control, I'll say with walks.

 I think I did a little better in the running game, ... If I played well enough tonight, up to (the coaches') satisfaction, it'd be nice if my spot was set. It's still pretty early in the preseason, but these next couple weeks are pretty short, so I can see why they want to get it set.
